If you're seeking a tucked away, dreamy escape somewhere a little different, look no further than this beauty. Set in the glorious Wiltshire countryside yet just an easy drive away from the city of Bath, this wonderful dog friendly homestay for four (but perfect for couples too) is ready to welcome you into its fold.
Step through the doors and you'll discover a home with a whisper of Scandi chic, a perfect blend of natural materials, gorgeous soft colours and mindfully chosen furniture to create a calm yet cosy ambience. It's not all style over substance though - the ecologically-minded owners have incorporated stylish recycling into the process too, with innovative design such as kitchen cupboards made from recycled bottles.
Set on the edge of the North Wessex Downs amongst the vast grassy plains of Wiltshire, this is a stunning spot to explore, with Neolithic wonders such as Avebury and Stonehenge a short drive away, whilst the gorgeous Roman city of Bath makes for a fabulous day out.
Living and eating
The fabulously open plan living, kitchen and dining area makes it oh-so-sociable for everyone to come together and enjoy their time together in one space. With vaulted ceiling, Velux windows and large windows, it's a beautifully light space, and by using natural materials the room is a peaceful, calming haven away from the everyday.
At the heart of the living area there's a large, flickering woodburning stove, with a comfy sofa set in front, ideal for curling up on whilst gazing out over the idyllic orchard. When night descends, there's subtle ambient lighting plus a Smart TV to catch up on your favourite films and box sets, whilst there's also a Bluetooth speaker and DAB radio to create the soundtrack to your holiday.
The kitchen lies at the other end of the room and is a sleek L-shape, with dark cupboards (amazingly made from recycled bottles) and smooth white worktops. Complete with everything you'll need to rustle up feasts including a gas hob, electric oven and dishwasher, it also has the all-important Nespresso coffee machine with milk frother plus there's a separate butcher's block offering additional prep space. You'll find a washing machine and tumble dryer located in the laundry shed next to the car parking area.
Next to the kitchen is the square wooden dining table for four, the perfect setting for lazy brunch, a quick snack or sumptuous suppers.
Sleeping
There are two stunning king size bedrooms to choose from, one being a zip-and-link bed so can also be set up as a twin. With wood-clad walls and floors, bedside tables, wardrobes and dressing tables, they have everything you could need to make your stay comfortable, plus large windows that overlook the garden and rolling countryside beyond - perfect for gazing out over during long, lazy lie-ins.
The sumptuous bedding and linen are fabulously eco-friendly, with the pillows and duvets made from recycled ocean bound plastics. With credentials like that, falling asleep is that much more satisfying!
Bathing
The beautiful bathroom comes complete with a freestanding bathtub, perfect for deliciously deep and luxurious soaks, whilst there's a separate shower for wake-me-up ablutions in the morning. A heated rail ensures towels are kept warm and fluffy.
Outdoor space
Step outside and you'll discover a sun-soaked terrace complete with a table and chairs and a gas barbeque, perfect for meals alfresco. Next to that is a bubbling hot tub, the pièce de resistance of the garden and the number one spot for relaxing as the sun sets and the inky skies descend, and the stars glisten above - just bliss! There's also plenty of lawn space, perfect for playtime with your pooch or little ones.
Swimming Pool

Babies and children
Babies and children are most welcome. A highchair and travel cot are available on request.
Dogs
Up to two small, well behaved dogs are welcome at Orchard Lodge. Please note, there is an additional fee per dog, per week or short break.
In the Area
Orchard Lodge lies in the pretty village of Heddington in Wiltshire, and is perfectly positioned to explore the gorgeous, expansive countryside of this amazing area. If historical sites are your thing, you'll find the Cherhill White Horse, Silbury Hill and the standing stones of Avebury all within a short distance. If you're looking for a little more hustle and bustle, the stunning city of Bath and Bradford-on-Avon are all within a relatively short drive away, whilst the historical market towns of Devizes and Marlborough are well worth a visit too. For film buffs, the village of Lacock and Castle Combe have regularly used in films such as Harry Potter, Pride and Prejudice and Stephen Spielberg's War Horse. For eating out, you needn't get in a car with the Ivy at Heddington, a traditional pub, just a short walk across fields. For a walk with a difference, head to the Kennet and Avon Canal and walk the tow paths for idyllic views.
