Boutique Cottages in Calne

This lovely, historic town in the heart of Wiltshire dates to the Roman times and was prominent during the Medieval times and beyond in the woollen broadcloth industry and canal and rail travel.

Nestled on the edge of the North West Downs and North Wessex Hills, Calne is surrounded by gorgeous countryside and wide open spaces, perfect for walking on the easy, flat pathways. There’s also lots of woodland and Nature Trails to explore, and why not pay a visit to the Cherhill White Horse?

The Calne Heritage Quarter is well worth a visit for its historic buildings, including a heritage centre and tiny Almshouses, whilst Castlefields Canal and River Park is a lovely spot where the remnants of a canal and castle can be spotted.

There’s an excellent choice of places to eat when you need a break, such as the traditional Dumb Post Inn and The Lansdowne Arms. You’ll also discover a wide selection of independent shops to explore during your visit.

Within a stone’s throw of Calne you can visit the UNESCO site of Avebury, whilst Bath, Stonehenge, the Cotswolds and Bristol are all within an hours’ drive.
