Boats, beaches and bliss at Beaufort House

Boats, beaches and bliss at Beaufort House

When we woke on Friday the weather was glorious, so we made the most of a fabulously sunny day and headed off to Fowey early to explore the beautiful south Cornish coastline en route.

On arrival we parked up and set off to explore the town whilst waiting for check in. The little streets in Fowey are so pretty, with fantastic boutique shops lining the main street and overlooking the harbour.

We had a wander through the town then excitedly headed to Beaufort House. The house is very impressive, we opened the door and were transported into a world of sumptuous interiors set in the most perfect setting, right of the edge of the water. We were greeted by a wonderful welcome basket full of delicious local treats, plus a bottle of champagne chilling in the fridge – the perfect welcome!

Walking through to the rear of the house we located the star of the show, the waterside terrace and sitting room with fantastic views of the water and boats bobbing around. We explored the house, marvelling at the interiors and views, then located the master bedroom on the top floor with its dual aspect windows overlooking the water and en suite shower room.

We popped our luggage away then headed back to the terrace to take in the glorious views. We were enjoying the setting so much we stayed in for the remainder of the day, settled on the outdoor furniture watching life on the water.

The next morning, we awoke to another beautiful day so we popped out of the garden gate, straight onto the harbour front and headed out for a leisurely breakfast at Pinky Murphy Café before heading off to Readymoney Cove. The walk to the beach is lovely, with spectacular views along on the way. We settled ourselves on the beach for ice creams and sandcastle building. After a busy day at the beach we headed back to Beaufort House, got a delicious fish and chip supper which we ate at the outdoor dining table, then bathed and settled down our son for the evening and enjoyed a cosy candlelit film night with the terrace doors pulled back to let the balmy evening in, listening to the sounds of the water lapping just outside.

We enjoyed our breakfast at Pinky Murphy Café so much that we went back for seconds, plus it had a selection of toys and books to entertain our son so it was perfect.

Afterwards we went back to the house and as the tide was out, we walked down the steps from the waterside terrace onto the beach below to do a spot of beach combing.

After a busy morning rock skimming and paddling we were looking forward to a delicious dinner at Sam’s where we enjoyed a fabulous Sirloin steak with all the trimmings. We then had a last meander through the picturesque streets enjoying shopping for mementos of our wonderful trip then packed the car and headed home late Sunday, reminiscing on the special family holiday we’d enjoyed.

Beaufort House sleeps eight and is also dog friendly.
