If you are heading over during the day, expect a cheery welcome and great food as you mull over the café’s offerings. Serving speciality coffee, legendary hot chocolates and a range of melt-in-your-mouth savoury and sweet goodies (from breakfast pasties to Portuguese custard tarts), you will be salivating in no time. Grab a seat at the outdoor sea bar and lap up the incredible views when the sun is shining (the doors to the Taverna are opened up when it’s rough) or nab a takeaway and plonk yourself directly on the beach.
For a wider range of options, the Taverna (located next to the coffee shop) opens its doors from 5.30 until 9pm each Thursday to Sunday. If you are lucky you can grab one of the spaces inside, but seating is unreserved and spread out across two long communal tables, so be prepared for a more informal experience. To complement your meal, you can bring your own bottle or buy one from the restaurant, a nice touch which gels with its welcoming, laidback atmosphere.

If leaving your Boutique Retreat for too long just isn’t an option, then you can take full advantage of Tatam’s evening takeaway menu too. Prop yourself against the harbour wall as your choices are readied and feel the excitement build. Amongst their array of dishes, you can sample such delights as their Portscatho seafood stew with locally caught seafood and saffron potatoes and, of course, their range of famous stone-baked pizzas, which include both meat-full and meat-free varieties.
