Living

The gorgeous living room is a Georgian delight with two blue linen double sofas on which to lounge after a busy day exploring, coffee table, stunning artwork, sash windows and a lovely decorative fireplace with twinkling lights. In addition, there's a Smart TV tucked away and good old fashioned board games such as chess as well as cards and jigsaws.

Eating

Cooking (and eating!) is just a dream in this stunning kitchen. With a magnificent shiny black Aga at its heart (turned off during warmer weather), this has everything the budding cook might need to rustle up snacks and feasts such as an additional gas hob, Siemens Combi oven and microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, wine cooler, and the all-important Nespresso coffee machine. In addition, there's a larder for storage (and home to a special welcome), plus a washing machine and tumble dryer are tucked away in an alcove.

For dining, there's a sweet table, chairs and fitted bench in the kitchen - ideal for breakfasts - whilst the beautiful formal dining room with panelled walls, huge sash window and original fireplace is the perfect setting for dinner parties and celebrations, with seating for up to eight.

Sleeping

There are two exquisite bedrooms to choose from, each en suite. The master bedroom is a delightfully spacious room with a sumptuously comfy super king - sized bed, huge mirror, walk-in wardrobe, two comfy occasional chairs, original feature fireplace and views over the courtyard.

The second bedroom also has a gloriously cosy super king - sized bed that's also a zip-and-link, meaning it can be made into twin beds if required. In addition it has a chest of drawers, pretty views over the courtyard gardens and original fireplace.

Both bedrooms come swathed in luxurious linens, bedding, throws and cushions to help lull you off to a deep, blissful sleep whilst SONOS sound system provide a background melody.

York is just an amazing city, and being right on your doorstep, it's just waiting to be explored and all of its major attractions are easily reached either by walking along the river or through the beautiful York Museum Gardens. With its vast history spanning 2000 years, there's so much to see and discover in York - all without stepping into a car.

At its heart lies the impressive York Minster, the largest Gothic cathedral north of the Alps and bejewelled in stained glass, some of which is over 800 years old. Seek out The Shambles, the oldest street in York dating back to the 13th century and known to be the inspiration for 'Daigon Alley' in Harry Potter. York Art Gallery houses some excellent examples of L.S Lowery, Turner and Hockney whist the National Railway Museum is a fascinating look into our rail heritage. Those with a strong disposition will enjoy exploring the notorious York Dungeon!

For eateries, Michelin-starred Roots is next door but one to St Mary's Cottage and well worth a visit, whilst The Star Inn The City is a lovely five-minute stroll away along the river bank. For course, no stay is complete without a visit to the world-renowned Betty's Tea Rooms!
