With glorious sea views, this wonderful Grade II listed Georgian town house in the heart of Fowey is set right on the waters' edge of the River Fowey and is the perfect home stay for families, a group of friends or couples after lots of space. Relaxed yet luxurious, the interiors are classic and refined, in muted colours and warm wood to make the most of the incredible sea and town views. Its location, just minutes from the bustling streets, is just perfect; tucked-away enough that when you shut the door it feels like you're in your own private hideaway, hidden from the world. It also benefits from private access to the water, so if you're keen on exploring by boat or kayak, this is a top spot for you.

Living

The airy, sunny sitting room comes complete with soft leather armchairs and a comfortable sofa, whilst bi-fold doors open out on to the waterside terrace that overlooks boats bobbing on the water and the countryside beyond. Perfect for hot sunny days, doors can be opened up to let the summer's air float through and to bring the outside in - bliss!

Eating

The fabulous kitchen, in a lovely shade of Farrow & Ball Inchyra Blue, comes complete with an Aga, eye-catching butcher's block-style island, butler's sink, marble work surface and all the equipment a chef might need to conjure up tasty meals. We adore the window seat - perfect for gazing out to sea or for resting up with a glass of something special, watching the cook at work!

The dining area offers plenty of seating for eight people. In addition, there's an outdoor dining table and chairs, plus a barbeque for a spot of alfresco dining.

Sleeping & Bathing

There are four pretty bedrooms, each beautifully decorated in a chic, traditional style in keeping with the heritage of the house. You'll find a king size bedroom on the first floor, with a window looking out over the town. It has an en suite shower room with eye-catching green tiles and is 'Jack and Jill' in style with two doors - one into the bedroom and one out into the hallway. A further king bedroom is found on the first floor with lovely waterside views. Two further bedrooms can be found on the second floor - to the front is a zip and link (super-king double or twin beds) with a bathroom that also has 'Jack and Jill' doors, whilst to the back is a gorgeous super-king bedroom with dual aspect windows overlooking the sea and an en suite shower room.

Bathing

There is a large, luxurious bathroom and a spacious shower room - both are 'Jack and Jill', being accessed from two of the bedrooms and the hallway. Plus, on the second floor, there is an en suite shower room for the super-king bedroom and on the ground floor there's a downstairs loo. Outside, on the pretty terrace, there is an outdoor shower which runs both hot and cold water.

Outdoor space

There's an idyllic waterside terrace to the rear of the property overlooking the water and with views across to Polruan - an amazing spot to lounge and watch boats and yachts sail by. It's a walled garden so you're well protected and not overlooked, making it incredibly private and perfect for whiling away the hours. With easy access to the water you can hire a day-boat from the quay. Should you wish to bring your own boat, you can arrange in advance to launch and hire a visitor's mooring via Fowey Harbourmaster's Office. A kayak/paddle board is provided for those wishing to explore the water. In addition, there is an outdoor shower in the garden - perfect for washing sandy feet.

Parking

There is private parking available for one car in a secure garage. This is located nearby, so you can pull up in front of the house to unload and then drive on to the car park - a short walk away. Extra car parking can be found in the local car parks.

In the Area

Fowey is such an incredible town, that you don't need to step in your car if you don't want to. There's a plethora of fabulous shops and eateries within a short walk - step through the back gate and you'll find yourself on the town quay and right next to Haveners, a lovely glass fronted restaurant perfect for dinner and drinks. Check out Sam's which serves sumptuous steak and seafood in a cool setting (they also have 'Sam's on the Beach' which overlooks the water in nearby Polkerris). Fitzroy and The Old Quay House are great for chic eats, whilst there's a host of pubs, tea shops, fish and chip shops and cafes to explore too. Being literally on the water, you might like to try your hand at paddle boarding, kayaking or sailing - you can hire boats from town quay, just outside the garden door. Nearby Readymoney Cove is a lovely sandy beach you can walk to, whilst nearby Par beach is dog friendly all year. For walkers, join the South West Coastal Path and head in either direction for lovely walks with stunning views, whilst you can catch the ferry over to Polruan which has lots of National Trust land to explore or Station wood, which is just on the edge of town.

Further afield is The Lost Gardens of Heligan, The Eden Project and Charlestown, most recently made famous by 'Poldark' and the stunning South coast. You might like to head North towards Padstow, the Camel Estuary, Rock and Polzeath for wilder beaches - great for surfing.

In the heart of Fowey yet tucked away, our contemporary-chic retreat is a peaceful escape with incredible sea views and private access to the water...

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Beaufort House:

Beautiful location and a house full of character and charm. Very comfortable and peaceful.

Wonderful property in an amazing location….our 4th visit, will be back again next year.

Overall a lovely property with gorgeous views. Be aware of steep climb to car parking garage

Clean welcoming comfortable faultless. A view to die for.. send pictures of this place to my friends they are really jealous .. Thanks Richard

We have had a wonderful week at Beaufort House – it is a very well-equipped home in a great location that is made amazing by the outside space and wonderful view that you can watch for hours. Having a private garage is a huge bonus and, if you don’t fancy the uphill struggle, then the Fowey town bus (from the church) will drop you right outside!

Perfect location for everything we needed. We could have watched the boats go by all day long!

Beaufort House is a truly wonderful property which feels like a true oasis right in the centre of Fowey. The deck overlooking the water is such a beautiful place to just sit and relax and the house is spacious and thoughtfully equipped. The secure car parking space (up the hill!) was an added bonus and we will definitely be returning.

The retreat was brilliant particularly its location, decor and views. Located right in the centre of town, we had easy access to all town activities (of which there were plenty!) as well as further afield, local restaurants and cafes. Allocated parking space nearby was extremely useful. The views of the river were magnificent in any weather! A little welcome hamper was also very much appreciated. We had a fab time! Thank you so much

Beautiful property in an excellent location that provided a magical holiday for our children and grandchildren

Excellent, very well equipped kitchen! Some of the best views across the Fowey estuary!

Beaufort House is a lovely elegant house for a group of friends and/or family wishing for a relaxing getaway. The views from the lounge and decking provide all year round interest. We settled in very quickly, enjoyed the proximity to pubs, restaurants and local shops. The generous welcome hamper was much appreciated. We would definitely look to stay again.

Beautiful place in a great location.

Beautiful property with stunning views on the estuary… an amazing place to relax.

I have already booked for next year and will continue too for as long as I am able .

Loved it!

Fabulous property and setting, could stay for much longer!

This is a wonderful comfortable house with amazing views. This is our second stay here and we hope to make it a regular family event.

A beautiful house with stunning views!

Ideal for a relaxing, cozy stay. Everything you need to make your holiday perfect. Decor beautiful.

We had an amazing stay, best location in Fowey, stunning interior with everything you need - we enjoyed it so much we have re-booked for 2023.

Beaufort House feels like home from home. As soon as the font door is closed there are no distractions or noise to spoil your day. The sitting room and deck is your own private window to the river and the sea with wonderfully interesting river traffic from small to huge. Bliss. We return year on year.

Fantastic accommodation in a beautiful location...very well presented and spotless!

Perfection! Loved Fowey and loved Beaufort House. Still haven't really come back to earth after this lovely week. Fowey is a gem and we really took advantage of the house, the village and it's suroundings. I can not think of a lovlier place. And I would also like to add that people were extremely nice and helpfull. Hope to come back soon!

Amazing location and fabulous waterfront terrace.

The perfect house in the perfect place, can’t wait to go back.

A most stunning location and property. We had the most fantastic week. I would recommend this location to everyone. Thank you.

What a wonderful house in a wonderful location...must be one of the best views from the terrace in Fowey!

A beautiful house in a perfect, central location with a peaceful and private terrace overlooking the river. We would all love to come back...

Brilliant house, brilliant location

Beaufort House is a real gem situated at the heart of the beautiful quaint town of Fowey with fabulous restaurants, bakery and more all on the doorstep. Our stay for Fathers Day weekend 2021 was absolutely perfect. The outlook over the estuary from the terrace is stunning, great for dining or sipping on a coffee whilst watching the world go by. The house is more than well equipped with everything we needed for a truly memorable stay. Cannot fault anything.. thank you for our wonderful break away; our little boy who is 3 especially enjoyed the boat trip from the Quay- thanks to captain Bob.. and the land train site seeing trip with great views over to Polruan.

Lovely property in a great location

Beautiful cottage with all the right amenities

This is a great property and one we have already decided will will be booking again! Everything was top notch from the location to the decor. We lucked out with the weather and we’re really impressed with the ease of access to the river. It was a lovely touch having some fresh scones jam and cream upon arrival. Yum!

Fab property on the water at Fowey. Loved the polruan ferry trip and walking to boddinick along the estuary walk. Amazing bakery and places to eat on the doorstep. Sundowner on the decking was the icing on the cake! Thanks for making this one of the best Cornwall holidays we have ever had!

A lovely and relaxing place for a holiday, exceeded our expectations, luxurious and comfortable. Very central location. Highly recommended.

Wonderful - we are always amazed by the location and comfort. The views over river Fowey are exceptional and this is a lovely way to relax and enjoy the very best of Cornwall.

Excellent location. Beautiful, quirky house with lots of books to immerse yourself in.

Yes we are happy for you to publish our review. This was our first time using your service and we will definitely book again.

Everything was perfect but due to there not being any decent super market I would recommend a food delivery.

You could not find a better home in Fowey- even the cleaning ladies confirmed this, so it must be true!
