Small but perfectly formed, this wonderful cottage with a wood-fired hot tub boasts a host of original features such as soft, golden wood floors, a toasty wood burner and pretty window seats. Combined perfectly with the luxurious furnishings and fittings that the owner has carefully chosen in plush velvets and natural tones, it altogether creates a warm, welcoming vibe guaranteed to make you feel right at home.

Romantic Apple Tree Cottage is perfect for couples, but with two bedrooms it's also great for friends or relatives to share - and it's dog friendly as well.

Nestled in the heart of the pretty village of Gweek at the head of the Helford river, this retreat is a wonderful base from which to explore the south Cornish coast as well as the west of Cornwall.

Living

Cosy and charming, the petite sitting room is the perfect spot to return to at the end of the day. With a roaring wood burner, curl up on the sofa or the mustard-yellow velvet armchair with your favourite tipple in hand. Discreetly tucked away in a cupboard is a Smart TV should you want to catch up on your favourite films and series, whilst there's a selection of books and board games if you're after something a little more traditional!

Eating

We just love the thoroughly gorgeous country kitchen. Complete with everything you need to rustle up your favourite meals, it comes with a Rangemaster electric cooker set into the original fireplace recess, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and wine fridge as well as the all-important Nespresso coffee machine. There's a fabulous round dining table, whilst we adore the original window seat - a perfect spot for morning coffee.

In addition, outside in the laundry shed you'll find a washing machine and tumble dryer - there's also space for wetsuits, surf or body boards or bicycles should you have them.

Sleeping

The master bedroom is just delightful in pale, natural colours offset by the beautiful teal velvet super king-sized bed. With a chest of drawers and hanging space, this is a charming room to retreat to at the end of the day. The second bedroom with small double bed is pure bliss, with lovely views over the garden and a chest of drawers. Both beds are swathed in luxurious linens and bedding, sumptuous throws, and cosy cushions - the perfect escape to lay your head and drift off to sleep.

Bathing

There's a delightful shower for wake-me-up ablutions in the morning or to cool down after a day out exploring. Please note, the shower is quite low so please be aware if you're tall!

Babies and children

Apple Tree Cottage welcomes babes in arms and children over the age of 12 years due to the access to the river at the end of the garden and cottage steep stairs. Please bring your own baby equipment and contact the office to book a baby in.

Outside Space

To the back of Apple Tree Cottage is a gorgeously pretty garden complete with a wood-fired hot tub, nestled near a bubbling stream which leads to the river. There is a top patio where you'll find a table and chairs for a spot of alfresco dining, whilst a lawned area leads down to the bottom patio which has a fire pit that can also be used as a barbeque - perfect for night-time escapades toasting marshmallows and drinking hot chocolate. The garden is enclosed on three sides, the bottom of the garden leads on to the stream which is gated off, but do exercise caution with children or pets here.

Parking

There is on street parking outside of the house.

Dogs

One small, well behaved dog is welcome. Please note, there is an additional fee per dog, per week or short break.

WiFi

Apple Tree Cottage has WiFi so if you need to stay in touch with the outside world you can.

The Longest Beaches in Cornwall

Cornwall is home to many beautiful beaches: the golden frontiers between land and sea. But which are the longest beaches in Cornwall, and where can you find them?

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Apple Tree Cottage:

Loved the cottage so homely and welcoming bigger than we thought. A lovely village and easy for paddle boarding from. Would highly recommend this cottage as Helford was stunning as we had never been to this part of Cornwall before. Had a magic feel about it. Just be careful of the drive to Gweek as can be very narrow.

We loved Gweek and Apple Tree Cottage! From the private garden where you can hear the river trickling behind from the shade of the apple tree or the wood fired hot tub, to the well equipped kitchen, cosy living room and massive bed, the cottage itself is perfect. Lovely little touches like the welcome basket, flowers, dog treats, games and generous supply of logs really made it feel like home. The area itself is lovely, a quiet village that came alive with community when the Wednesday fish & chip truck rolled around and the local band set up on the green. The village stores next door is well stocked with amazing produce (the black pudding sausage rolls!) and the pub just over the road has live music on a Friday. Great walks from the doorstep and a slew of amazing beaches within a 20 minute drive.

Really cosy, beautifully decorated and felt like home, especially because of the little touches too around the cottage. Loads of equipment in the kitchen, comfy beds and pillows - we loved it!

We had a very warm welcome with lightning in the cottage for arriving in the evening, fresh flowers and a nice welcome basket in the kitchen. John was a perfect host. Thank you very much! We can recommend your perfect equipped and tasteful furnished cottage.

A lovely cottage beautifully decorated and very well-equipped. A comfortable set-up. The garden was a bonus - it was lovely to sit out in the autumn sunshine and to enjoy a cheeky dip in the hot tub.

Delightful cottage in a perfect location

Beautiful, cosy cottage in a great location! Really well equipped & we felt at home straight away.

What can I say? Never before have I felt the need to email a company on arrival to say how much we loved our cottage!! Style, comfort, size, welcome hamper, quality kitchen equipment, wow garden with stunning hot tub area…all just perfect for our family of 3 plus our dog. Location ideal as so much to do in the area and within a short drive to so many places. The Helford River area is stunning. Enjoyed so many walks, including the Lizard and Kynance Cove which are a must do. Only half an hour to another favourite beach on the north coast, Gwithian. Never yet been disappointed with a Boutique Retreats property. Apple Tree Cottage has been our favourite and we will be back! Thank you.

A lovely few days in Southern Cornwall in this beautifully equipped little cottage. You have thought of everything, and we especially appreciated the welcome pack for both ourselves and Hayley our little Westie. She loved your pretty garden as did we. Very comfortable beds and linens to sleep in. We were fortunate to be here in the stunning weather so we were able to get out and about on some pretty walks.

We had a wonderful stay in Apple Tree Cottage despite some traditional Cornish weather. This beautiful cosy place to stay in the evenings hiding from the rain in the hot tub. The house is well equipped and a perfect bolthole from which to explore South Cornwall.

100% met our expectations - we had a fantastic stay. Beautiful cottage.

Apple Tree cottage is a stunning little gem in a quaint little town, so quiet but places to eat and drink a stones throw away. We had no idea we were literally next to a corner shop so that was handy! Average drive time to all the best spots in south Cornwall. We were welcomed with a sweet little basket of goodies including a bottle of bubbles, and even our dog had a welcome package! The cosiest little lounge with an adorable log fire. The kitchen so well equipped that we didn’t want for anything. Loved cooking at home! The bedroom was so clean and inviting. The garden was a little piece of heaven with a gorgeous retreat at the very end where the hot tub is, there’s a flowing river which is the perfect soundtrack for an evening spent in the hot tub under the stars. We spent a whole week there and didn’t want to leave, it became such a comfortable home for us. It’s the perfect space for two and a dog! We can’t recommend boutique retreats enough! We’re telling everyone about them!

We cannot wait for our next staycation! XO

Stunning cottage in a wonderful location, close to lots of great places to visit. Great village pub, little shop a few doors away incase you’ve forgotten anything. Would definitely recommend staying here!

Great, cosy, beautifully styled cottage, perfect for visits to the Lizard Penninsula, Kynance Cove and Porthleven. Loved it so much we would go back to the same cottage in a heartbeat.

Apple Tree Cottage is ideally located in Gweek to allow you to explore so many parts of the Cornish Coast. We had an absolutely fantastic time and would highly recommend this cottage to anyone wanting to explore this beautiful part of the UK. The owners have thought of everything and we felt very much at home as soon as we walked in the door.

All facilities and equipment of very good quality including the hot tub. Would recommend to couples

Appletree Cottage was just beautiful - wonderful set-up for our short week in the Lizard. We enjoyed delicious local food, numerous glasses of wine under the stars by the fire pit and the stunning local coast for walks and beach days. Thank you Boutique for a memorable holiday!

The cottage was absolutely lovely! Would definitely stay there again!

This was a gorgeous cottage, beautifully decorated, well equipped, very comfortable and well situated for exploring the southern part of Cornwall.

The most perfect place with everything you need.

We had the most lovely time. Apple Tree cottage is the perfect cosy escape, especially now we’re heading into the winter months. Gorgeous furnishings and top quality appliances, we had everything we needed.

We loved this cottage, it was just the right size for two people, beautifully decorated, comfortable and cosy. The wood burner kept us warm in the evenings, the kitchen was well appointed and the large bed was very comfortable. The garden is lovely too and the laundry shed a great idea and very useful. Gweek is well positioned for local walks, cyclIng, pubs, and other activities. Highlights of the week were a hike from Lizard to Porthleven, a wonderful meal at Kota, a visit to Leach Pottery in St Ives, and fantastic takeaway Asian street food from Bango Kitchen in Penryn. I would definitely visit Apple Tree cottage again and also recommend to friends.
