Nestled in Newlyn, the up-and-coming harbour village sat between Penzance and Mousehole, you're ideally located for exploring the majestic far west whilst the house itself offers a cosy, chic retreat to escape to at the end of the day with plush interiors and plentiful amenities on hand. It's also just a short walk from great restaurants, wine bars, shops and even an independent cinema - what more could you need?

Special 'Just for Two' rate

A special 'Just for Two' rate applies outside of school holidays, peak weeks, bank holidays, Christmas and New Year. At Meris the 'Just for Two' rate is 10% discount. When Meris is booked for two guests this is on the basis that only the master bedroom is used during your stay.

If you have any queries or would like to book, please don't hesitate to get in touch on 01872 553 491 or email enquiries@boutique-retreats.co.uk.

Living

Warm and welcoming, the lovely sitting area to the back of the room has plenty of seating with luscious sofas nestled around the huge wood burner - perfect for cooler evenings. To the front you'll find two squishy chairs ideally positioned to make the most of the large window that overlooks Newlyn's famous harbour - a perfect spot for watching the hustle and bustle of fishing boats.

Subtle soft furnishings contrast with the colourful artwork which bring more than a touch of character to this pretty, lovingly restored Cornish cottage. In addition, there's a SMART television with Netflix for film nights or if you want to catch up with your favourite series.

Eating

The fabulous galley kitchen has everything the cooking connoisseur needs to rustle up feasts. Black granite worktops and sage green cupboards are home to a Neff electric oven and hob, integrated dishwasher, integrated washer-dryer and every other appliance you might need, including the all-important coffee machine.

Newlyn is one of the most famous fishing ports in the UK and a fish and seafood lover's paradise - you're a short walk from some brilliant fish shops, just steps from the harbour, so if you love to cook, make sure to visit and pick up some delicious denizens of the deep to cook back at Meris.

Raised above the sitting room you'll find the dining area, complete with plenty of soft seating - perfect for long, leisurely meals.

Sleeping and bathing

The master bedroom is gloriously spacious with a beamed vaulted ceiling, a luxurious super-king 6ft bed, a television plus an occasional chair to gaze at the sea views or curl up with a book. The en suite has a walk in shower. The second cosy bedroom is a 5ft zip-and-link bed meaning it can be kept as a double or made into twin beds and comes complete with a television, lovely sea views and a bathroom just a few steps away. Both bedrooms come complete with luxurious linens and bedding, whilst the en suites boast heated rails to keep towels fluffy and warm.

Outdoor space

There's a pretty courtyard garden with a table and chairs for outside dining, a coal barbeque and a cantilever umbrella for oh-so-sunny days. As the sun sets, light the candles, pop on the twinkling fairy lights and sit back for an evening of relaxation.

Parking

There is permit parking for one car a short walk away - you can pull up to the property and drop cases off before driving to the space. In additition there are various car parks in the village.

Babies

Meris welcomes babes-in-arms only as the cottage is not suitable for crawling babies or children under the age of five due to the many steps and spiral staircase. Please call 01872 553491 to book a babes-in-arms in. Baby equipment isn't provided so please bring along your own travel cot.

Accessibility

Meris has WiFi so you can stay in touch with the outside world should you wish to.

Our third stay - that speaks volumes!

Amazing cottage and location

Great location within easy walking distance to the town centre and also neighbouring Penzance and Mousehole to enjoy the sights and tastes this area has to offer. Beautiful view over the harbour but, beware, Newlyn is a working fishing port and the boats can be noisy, also the “main” road through Newlyn runs right in front of the property and can also be noisy.

Possibly the best equipped cottage I have ever stayed in, and in a great location.

Our second stay at Meris - we love it!

Great location for couples. Some lovely restaurants in Newlyn. Mousehole is a nice walk away so is Penzance.

Meris is a gem, wonderfully equipped, perfect location. THE most comfortable beds!! We'll definitely be back.

A very comfortable and well equipped cottage with the advantage of a parking space nearby. The courtyard garden is lovely with lots of dining space. We loved watching the fishing boat activity in New Lynn harbour and one morning saw a seal. It is easy to walk into nearby Mousehole and Penzance but if you don't feel like it, there is an excellent hopper bus service (every 20 mins when we were there). The spiral staircase is well designed and caused us no problems (fit-ish 70 year olds) but would make the cottage unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues.

We had a lovely stay, the situation on the harbour was wonderful. Kitchen well equipped and bedrooms comfortable. House tastefully decorated and cozy. Situation good for both long walks and driving to other places in the area. Christmas tree and welcome pack was a lovely touch.

Superb location & amazing views! Very comfortable for our family of 4 & pooch. So relaxed after 1 week. Luxury in a perfect little house!

Stunning view over the country's largest working fishing harbour. Absolutely delightful.

Incredible view, superbly done out, comfortable beds, within walking distance of some incredible restaurants.

The cottage is described as 'quirky' and it is in its own way. What it does provide is a good location with fabulous views over the harbour where you can watch for hours the comings and goings of the very bustling fishing industry. Look across the water to the sight of St Michael's Mount which is truly stunning. Newlyn is a vibrant place with some great places to eat. Be warned though that you really should think and book ahead to maximise on these opportunities. Mousehole is an easy walk away where again you need to book to enjoy their restaurants. We stayed at Meris during one of the hottest weeks of the year but were so pleasantly surprised that it provided a lovely cool environment to be in.

Meris is a dream come true. Superbly stylish, comfortable, and has everything you could possibly need and more! The view is sensational, the location is simply breathtaking, and every little touch has been carefully considered and placed. The bed was to die for! I’ve never slept so well whilst away from home! The log burner was so lovely and cozy and the outdoor courtyard was beautiful, we enjoyed many Al fresco meals during our stay. It was the perfect romantic get away and our dog Pippa was very comfortable and settled.

Meris is divine located with a view to die for, you could not wish for a nicer cottage where you want for nothing every detail is cateref for. The attention to detail is lovely from the joseph joseph kitchen ware to the lovely snuggle chairs. The wine in the fridge to the scones and clotted cream were much appreciated!! Thank you cant wait to come again!!! Matt & Pauline

Lovely cottage very comfortable with a high quality of furnishings and appliances

The best accommodation we have had in Cornwall.

Meris is a luxurious, cosy, perfect place to get away from it all and soak in the views of the sea and harbour. A glass of wine or cup of coffee in one of the ‘love seats’ is a must!

Fantastic retreat, we enjoyed every moment and the hosts even went so far as to give us little extra's such as a bottle of bubbly and cream team on arrival. Everything was well presented and they were prompt to respond when we had questions. Location was fantastic too.

This is one of the best holiday homes we’ve rented. The house is so well equipped and the furnishings and bedding are really good quality. The welcome pack was a lovely surprise and the house was so clean on arrival , we were so happy with it! It’s really close to so many good restaurants too (all walking distance if the weather is good). All in all a great place to stay.

Beautiful cottage which is tastefully decorated to a very high standard. The cottage is really well appointed with all the comforts you would expect at home. The location is ideal in an area which has so much to offer in terms of beaches and walks etc but situated close to really excellent local amenities which are within waking distance. Perfect for a relaxing child free weekend. Oh and we loved the view from the lounge window!

Beautiful cottage, well appointed and cosy

The owners have thought of everything-well-stocked but also the food etc ob arrival was fantastic. Thank you

It was the amazing attention to detail(like fans in the bedrooms during this very hot week, the welcome pack, the fresh flowers and the level of equipment)which made our stay in this beautiful cottage overlooking the harbour so pleasurable.

We had the best stay here for our honeymoon, in non COVID times we would have gone abroad but we are so glad we found this place instead! It is done to such a high standard and has everything you need and more. We had a bottle of bubbles and the necessities waiting for us when we arrived and the owner even popped in half way through our week with another bottle and fudge!

Perfect location for exploring different parts of Cornwall too. Beautiful beaches just a short drive away.

Would definitely visit again and recommend to our friends and family.

Beautifully presented, well equipped cottage where the owner has literally thought of EVERYTHING you may need for a comfortable stay. Newlyn is a working fishing village but is well placed to explore other nearby areas, such as Mousehole, Marazion, Sennen Cove etc. The cottage overlooks the harbour which provides an ever changing, colourful vista to enjoy in sublimely comfortable snuggle chairs. The parking permit is for an area of ground which is level, roomy and only a short walk away.

Incredibly well furnished and comfortable property, with really great artwork on the walls. The view is incredible. Perfect location and ideal for exploring Thai beautiful part of the Cornish coast. We would love to return.

Absolutely gorgeous. The owners have done a superb job. The beds were so comfortable. The bed linen, towels, all extremely high quality. Kitchen was the best equipped kitchen we've ever had in a rental. It was 5 star hotel in a cottage rental.

This cottage will not disappoint and will even exceed expectations. Absolute coastal haven. If you love to lay in the most comfortable super king bed whilst watching the sun rise on the harbour listening to the sound of little fishing boats coming in from the sea with not a care in the world then get your self to Meris cottage!

A beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable retreat to explore Mousehole, St. Michaels Mount and Marazion and a little further Padstow, Rock and Perranporth. A meal at the delightful Mackerel Sky Seafood Bar a must. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff at the Duke St Cafe (including a fish without batter for our dog). Cooked lots of beautiful meals with local produce and fresh fish in the well equipped kitchen. We loved our week at Meris. Would highly recommend. Thank you.

Well equipped and beautifully decorated

We really enjoyed our stay as 2 couples, the view really is amazing and we spent plenty of house in the love seats, drinking fizz and watching the world go by. We also enjoyed a walk into Mousehole and an afternoon on the beach.

Beautiful. Perfect. Take me back!
