This stunning seaside sojourn lies in beautiful Whitsand Bay, with incredible sea vistas best gazed at with glass in hand.

Chic and charming, this is a beach house getaway whatever time of year; slide open the glass windows during summer months to bring the outside in or cosy up with the underfloor heating and wood burner in winter, with blustery weather creating dramatic views.

The open-plan living space is just perfect whether you're a couple or a family; after all, spending time together is what holidays are for, and being dog friendly, your furry friends can come too!

Moonstone is perfectly situated to explore the often-overlooked south-eastern corner of Cornwall, with sleepy villages, sandy beaches and the gorgeous Rame Peninsula within easy reach, right around to Fowey and beyond.

Living and eating

We're just in love with the open-plan living area, complete with floor to ceiling windows leading out on to the front terrace, dreamy teal paintwork, and eclectic art. To one side you'll discover the sitting area complete with grey sofa that's made for lounging - whether with glass doors open to let the gentle sea breeze through on a hot summer's day, or to curl up on in front of the flickering wood burner whilst gazing out over a winter storm.

To the back of the room lies the kitchen, sleekly gorgeous with wooden worktops and dark cabinets, a joy to cook in, whether you're a seasoned chef or a keen beginner. Perfectly formed, it comes complete with everything you'll need including an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge freezer and the all-important Nespresso coffee machine. In addition, there's a separate utility room that houses the washer dryer.

The dining area is set just in front of the kitchen, and we love the turquoise-topped table, the perfect spot for laid-back lunches and decadent dinners.

Sleeping and bathing

The master en suite bedroom is simply divine, boasting a humungous super king bed adorned with cloud-soft pillows, luxurious linens, and oh-so-cosy bedding, guaranteeing a blissful nights' sleep. With touches of pink throughout and gorgeously dark walls, this is an incredibly romantic bedroom heightened by the glorious ensuite. Home to a copper freestanding bathtub for two plus large walk-in shower, it's the perfect setting for deep soaks after a day out exploring.

In addition, there's a super-cute second bedroom complete with bunk beds, perfect for little ones, plus an additional shower room.

Outdoor space

Step outside and you'll discover Moonstone's sun-soaked terrace to the front of the property, with breath-taking views out to sea. To help you make the most of the glorious weather, there are two sun loungers plus a dining table, chairs, and barbeque for alfresco meals.

Parking

Unusually for Whitsand Bay, Moonstone has private parking for up to two cars in front of the property.

Babies and children

A travel cot and highchair can be provided on request.

Dogs

Up to two dogs are most welcome at Moonstone. Please note, there is an additional fee per dog, per week or short break.

In the Area

If you can drag yourself away from your seaside retreat, there's plenty of things to see and do in this hidden corner of Cornwall. Boasting fantastic, unspoilt beaches, Whitsand Bay and Freathy in particular are often overlooked and not so well known by visitors, so is it a perfect, peaceful destination. Take the passenger ferry at Cremyll to Royal William Yard where you'll find lots of restaurants and shops or explore the huge estate at Mount Edgecumbe House and Country Park - perfect for walks. Take time out to visit the nearby seaside villages of Kingsand, Cawsand, Looe and oh-so-pretty Polperro. Of course, the South West Coastal Path is on your doorstep too so is perfect for walking - Rame Head is a particular hotspot.

This dreamy, dog friendly coastal getaway in Whitsand Bay is decadently different with rich, dark colours throughout offset by the epic sea views.

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Moonstone:

Outstanding, luxurious

The property has an amazing view. It was well appointed very cosy and welcoming.

Fantastic, outstanding retreat with views that are hard to beat anywhere. Lovely locality with amazing access down the cliff to an amazing beach for long walks. Private parking essential for that location and all of your needs met in this special place.

Fabulous views, great layout, all amenities, quiet beach. I’d rather not share the secret but have to leave a great review as we had a lovely time. Thank you.

Charming retreat with amazing views. The sunsets were fabulous. A beautiful spot to totally relax in.

A beautiful property with the most amazing view! We felt completely at home & could not have enjoyed our stay more. The weather was mixed but it felt so cosy inside especially with the log burner and when the clouds cleared we experienced the most beautiful sunsets. The parking space right outside was an added bonus and the welcome pack was very thoughtful & much appreciated. I must just mention the view again…. wow!

Perfect location, clean & comfortable, very well equipped accommodation, dog friendly, housekeeping very helpful when asked a question, tasty welcome pack, an extremely relaxing place to be!

The interior was incredibly we absolutely loved it! Really stylish! We loved our long weekend getaway which had a fantastic view and plenty of places to do long walks and morning sea dips! I would recommend to anyone!! A totally magical gateaway to really unwind! Thank you so much.

You cannot beat it here for ultimate calm and a break away from it all, but it was made all the better by the gorgeous surroundings of Moonstone. So many lovely touches and the welcome basket was one lovely treat after another. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we will be back!

Really lovely place. Very comfortable with everything you need and charming interior. The view is just incredible. We stayed for a short break in October and it was equally lovely on the days we could sit on the terrace in the sunshine and the day it was raining and windy so we had the fire on and hunkered down with a cuppa and a good book on the super comfortable sofa - a sofa with a view that is!

Absolutely perfect for couples with dogs. A beautiful cabin with amazing surrounding walks. Sitting watching the sea from the sofa felt like you were on a ship.

This is a lovely welcoming cottage with an amazing view whatever the weather. All the comforts of home with everything you might need including a thoughtful welcome pack. Cosy yet gorgeously well appointed.

Things dreams are made of … Moonstone and the location were both incredible, just perfect. The welcome hamper was so thoughtful, beautiful things.

Great property, well appointed and perfect location. Would stay again.

Fantastic location and well-thought out interior with everything you can possibly need. Superb views!

Stunning location near to a quiet and unspoilt beach. A real treat to wake up to the amazing coastal view and stay in such a well designed, decorated and furnished property. A week was definitely not long enough!

Absolutely loved it. Great location, amazing views, and the retreat was quirky, really well equipped and we felt completely at home. We would definitely revisit.

Beautifully presented, tranquil retreat with unspoiled sea views.... will definitely be booking again.

Gorgeous place, attention to detail was superb.

Moonstone is in a unique area of Cornwall and the beach although a bit of a hike to get to is well worth it, just beautiful. We loved the decor in moonstone. Such lovely taste. The welcome hamper was very nice and very welcome thank you. It was spotlessly clean with everything we needed, so relaxing would stay again, very jealous of the owners.

We had a fantastic short break in this gorgeous, cosy and comfortable property with absolutely stunning views. Photographs can't do the location and views justice at all. We had high expectations which were exceeded. Would happily come back again.

This property was fabulous, we loved everything about it. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you could’ve wanted. The views were stunning! We will definitely return.

What a wonderful Easter break!

We were welcomed with a thoughtful and super stocked hamper which was a real god send and greatly appreciated as after driving from London and arriving late we awaited a late Waitrose delivery that never arrived.

The cabin was extremely well equipped, cosy & comfortable and perfectly designed, with everything you could possibly need, I would say it was one of the best Boutique Retreats we have stayed in so far over the many years. We were particularly drawn to it as we have the same Bert & May tiles.

Being relatively new there were a few minor pickles, the bathroom sink pipe had come off whilst washing faces and the blind had come off the bracket. Both easily fixable. Lynda the housekeeper was very efficient and resolved swiftly.

The location and views were calming and the beach walks were really something magical, we could easily of stayed another week.

Having spent the last 3 months bed bound with long covid, it was just the break we needed to rest and recharge, thank you Moonstone for exceeding our expectations.

Easter Break – April 2022

A truly wonderful beach house with spectacular views. Everything we expected and more. Beautifully decorated and provisioned. Could not recommend more highly! Thank you for a wonderful long weekend!
