This lovely cottage for four lucky people lies in the heart of south Devon and is a perfect country escape. Surrounded by rolling countryside, babbling brooks and idyllic woodland, Feathers lies in the grounds of a grand country house and is a perfect bolt hole for families and couples alike. Bucolic is the word - expect to see the occasional flock of wandering guinea fowl and chickens around the pretty grounds! Feathers itself is a real beauty; think blissful, relaxed country chic with real touches of uniqueness. We love the gorgeous artwork (all with a feathered theme) and the bespoke furniture. It's an absolute delight.
Living

Cosy yet chic, the pretty living room has a wood burning stove at its heart with bespoke log storage. The super-sized sofa is just perfect for cuddling up on and there's an additional seat for one plus a cool cow hide butterfly chair. We adore the gorgeous feathered lamp, and the stable doors leading outside mean you can open the top door to let the country air in.

Eating

The kitchen at Feathers is a cooks' dream. As well as being super-stylish, it's chock-full of everything you might need to create a meal Nigella would be proud of. The bespoke, hand-made kitchen has a butler's sink, electric oven and hob whilst for dining there's a gorgeous zinc-top table and handmade settle seat for meal times.

Additionally, Feathers offers a unique Private Dining Experience, whereby guests are invited to use the formal dining room in the main house which sits between 6 -16 guests. The chef specialises in local produce (and organic if requested) from nearby farms and fish caught in the South Hams.

Sleeping

There are two gorgeous bedrooms at Feathers - both as dreamy as the other and guaranteed to get you drifting off to sleep in no time. The first en suite bedroom is just stunning in shades of grey and white with gorgeous oak flooring, Feather and Black king sized bed and plenty of storage. The second bedroom, also en suite, is a little smaller but just as lovely and comes with a super king bed which is also a zip and link, making it perfect for couples or children. The touches of yellow, grey and white make this a very pretty bedroom.

Bathing

With two en suites, they'll be no queues at bath time! The glorious grey bedroom has an en suite shower room whilst the yummy yellow room has a luscious free standing roll-top bath for two and separate shower - perfect for blissful soaks after a bracing country walk. Both en suites have heated towel rails to keep towels super fluffy and warm.

Outdoor space

Outside there's a lovely protected patio area complete with table and chairs, barbeque and fire pit - perfect for dining alfresco and for relaxing on long summer evenings. Additionally, there are paddocks for dog walking.

Stabling

A first for Boutique Retreats! Stabling is available on either a DIY Livery basis or Full Livery, and grazing is also available. The area around Feathers is just perfect for riding, such as the South Hams (including beach riding at certain times of year) and Dartmoor.

WiFi

Feathers is fully WiFi ready so if you need to keep in touch with the outside world you can.

Dogs

Two dogs are very welcome at Feathers. If you have more than two, please get in touch as this is negotiable. There's a fabulous dog shower with hot and cold water on the top patio - perfect for wash-downs after muddy walks - plus a heated dog kennel - ideal if you want to go out in the evening. Dog-proof paddocks are available too for walkies - just perfect!

Parking

As well as parking for cars, there is parking and secure storage available for boats and trailers.

In the Area

Where to start? South Devon has a rich selection of things to do in the area. For walkers, there are plenty of choices on your doorstep, whether it's a woodland walk or exploring Dartmoor. The Blackdown Rings - an Iron Age hill fort - are well worth exploring whilst the walk along Topsham Bridge (an old railway line) is particularly good.

A visit to the coast is a must - the coastline is just gorgeous along here with Start Bay just a short drive away, and pretty Salcombe too. Blackpool Sands is a lovely sandy beach whilst driving along the coastal road towards Dartmouth is a must. For dog lovers, many of the beaches are dog friendly including South Milton which allows dogs all year.

Totnes is well worth a visit too with great independent shops and a brilliant market, whilst historic Dartmouth, with its rich naval history, has a lovely harbour and castle as well as superb shops.

The New Inn at Morleigh - just two miles away - serves delish food and well worth a visit too.
