Settled in the Herefordshire countryside on the pastoral fringes of the Wye Valley and only a short drive from the quintessential market town of Hereford, The Sugar Store is perfectly placed for those in pursuit of a dose of country magic. Living
Step through the charming stable door into the vintage inspired sitting room, where exquisite herringbone wood flooring, a beautiful wood burning stove and a rustic, original stone feature wall ensure a captivating space to dwell. Seamlessly blending luxurious, natural textiles with organic, mid-century modern furniture pieces, this stylish sanctuary is the dreamiest of backdrops to unwind. From the plump, charcoal Loaf sofa for three with a matching footstool, to the suede mustard armchair in the reading corner, there's an array of seating options to gather together.
For entertainment, there is a Samsung HD TV with an Amazon firestick, along with a Sony Bluetooth speaker and a Roberts DAB radio.
Kitchen and Dining
Evoking a retro feel, the kitchen and dining space promises a classic mid-century aesthetic, with stunning slate floor tiling and flat fronted oak cabinetry topped with sleek, quartz worktops. Filled with natural light from floor-to-ceiling windows looking onto verdant garden foliage, you'll discover all you'll require for curating heavenly home dining experiences, including an oil burning AGA, a Neff induction hob, built-in dual ovens, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, and a Nespresso coffee machine and frother. For banquets and brunches, a teak wood dining table with two benches awaits.
In addition, you'll find a washer/tumble dryer in the utility room, whilst in the outbuilding resides another fridge/freezer.
Please note, the Aga will be turned on from November - April.
Sleeping and bathing
Exuding a sumptuous interior style with rich navy and mustard hues, the spacious sumptuous master bedroom is set on the ground floor. Promising a beautiful red-brick feature wall and elegant antique pieces, this calming space with a king-size bed beckons for uninterrupted slumbers beside garden vistas. An occasional armchair awaits beside the window for moments of quietude, along with a set of antique cream drawers and scalloped bedside tables.
On the opposite side of the wall, lies a small dressing area, where you'll find a stunning antique mahogany wardrobe and dressing table with stool. This heavenly boudoir also benefits from a wet room en suite with a walk-in rainfall shower and a heated rail.
Nestled in the eaves of the cottage is the second bedroom, boasting Velux windows and a soothing neutral colour palette. You'll find a rattan, king-size bed for lingering lie-ins, along with built-in wardrobes and an antique pine chest of drawers for storing belongings.
Adjacent is the contemporary en suite bathroom adorned in both geometric and subway tiles. For wistful moments of self-care, there is a bathtub, as well as a spacious walk-in shower with rainfall head and a heated rail.
Outside space
Uncover the spellbinding, sun-soaked garden, a true sanctuary where wildly beautiful botanical borders and curated corners set the scene for enchanting alfresco moments from dawn until dusk. From golden hour spent feasting around the table for four, champagne conversation beside the firepit, to twilight dips in the Urban cedar hot tub - only the most magical of staycation moments reside here.
Savour balmy days on the small lawn, promising the perfect opportunity to enjoy the selection of garden games, a pretty parasol and the Weber barbeque. Wander the stone path to discover the charming shepherds hut, a cosy hideout with high-speed WiFi for the seekers of country quietude or a space to journal. Here you'll find a Scandi-style desk with chair and bean bag chairs. This space also has the luxurious addition of air conditioning. Surrounding the shepherds hut on a larger lawn are a number of fruit trees, which guests are most welcome to pick alongside herbs and flowers when in season.
For those with canine companions, the garden is also fully enclosed.
Babies and children
Babies and Children are most welcome at The Sugar Store. A travel cot and highchair are available upon request.
Dogs
Up to two well-behaved dogs are most welcome at The Sugar Store. Please note, there is an additional fee per dog, per short break.
Parking
There is ample parking at The Sugar Store, including two spaces in the main driveway. Private parking for one car can be found at the other end of the retreat, along with a further space in the layby directly beside the cottage.

Perched in the pastoral countryside of Herefordshire, The Sugar Store is only a short drive from a splendid array of fine eateries and charming country pubs. In the historic market town of Hereford, delight in the atmosphere of open-air dining at The Yard, which comprises of four restaurants including Maneki Ramen and Leaven Pizza. Seamlessly catering to all tastes, this ambient setting promises a unique gastronomic experience in a contemporary setting. Uncover dreamy seasonal fare at the Michelin commended Bull's Head in Craswall, where you'll find a cosy fireside restaurant overlooking the wildly beautiful Blac Mountains. For those in pursuit of a traditional country pub, retreat to the sweet, timber-framed Cottage of Content in the hamlet of Carey, whilst for a rustic outdoor experience, Off Grid Gourmet promise wood-fired supper under the stars.
Nestled on the border of England and Wales, Herefordshire is surrounded by blooming countryside, enchanting woodland and breathtaking valleys and hills. For the adventurous souls, the Wye Valley resides right on your doorstep, promising the opportunity to explore hiking and cycling trails, whilst those who prefer waterside activities may opt for an afternoon canoeing on the river Wye.
