Rustic beams and exposed stone blends beautifully with modern comforts at Wynnook. Uncover an open plan living and dining space, with a charming super-king zip-and-link bedroom, dressing space and shower room residing on the first floor, offering flexible sleeping arrangements for two. Step outside to uncover an enclosed private terrace, complete with an outdoor dining space and chimenea for alfresco evenings beneath the stars. Within walking distance of Wynnook, you'll find a welcoming pub, The Bush, plus a host of delightful walking and cycling routes. The nearby Georgian market town of Cockermouth is well worth visiting, with an array of shops, restaurants, and the National Trust owned Wordsworth House, the childhood home of William Wordsworth. For the lovers of Lakeland adventures, Derwentwater and Keswick are just 20-minutes by car, with Bassenthwaite and Buttermere within a short distance too. The best of land and sea awaits you, with the beautiful Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty waiting to be explored, from the Victorian seaside town of Silloth to Whitehaven and St Bees Head at the start of the Coast to Coast walking route.


Setting

Beside Wynnook, you will find Sylvan, which sleeps two, set ideally next to one another to cater for parties of up to four, whilst offering perfect privacy when the retreats are booked separately. You can view Sylvan here or call us for more information.


Living and dining

In an open plan design, the living and dining space radiates cosiness, with low ceilings and exposed beams adding rustic touches to this charming space. An electric wood-effect stove sits within an exposed stone feature fireplace and hearth, promising warmth to your evenings after days spent exploring your surroundings. For moments of rest, an upholstered armchair and velvet sofa in burnt orange tones rest before a Smart TV, where evenings can be spent watching your favourite films and series. For added entertainment, you'll find board games, a Bluetooth speaker, and an array of books for unplugged enjoyment. At the far side of the living space, there's an intimate dining table for two, positioned beside patio doors to welcome a balmy breeze as you dine in the warmer months.

Tucked within a sweet nook beyond the dining space, uncover the snug kitchen in a modern Shaker style. It's fully equipped with an oven and induction hob, an undercounter fridge, dishwasher and microwave. You'll also find a boiling tap, DeLonghi Dolce Gusto coffee machine and an ice machine for brewed and chilled beverages of every variety.


Sleeping and bathing

A bespoke oak staircase leads you to the first floor, where the bedroom at Wynnook awaits, nestled beneath rustic beams, with beautiful exposed stone feature walls. Offering flexible sleeping arrangements, its complete with a super king zip-and-link bed, which can also be set as two twin beds. For added comfort, plush cushions and throws embrace the bed, ensuring a blissful night's sleep. For storing belongings, uncover a chest of drawers in forest shades, topped with mirrors, with the addition of an antique wardrobe in soft sage hues. Relish self-care moments in the sweet dressing room, with a regal antique dressing table at its heart, perfectly positioned to carry out pampering rituals.

Nestled beside the dressing space is the luxurious shower room, with rich rouged walls, a bespoke dual vanity unit and a large walk-in shower. For added comfort for your morning showers, you'll find heated flooring and a heated towel rail.


Outdoor space

Patio doors lead onto an inviting private terrace, which is perfectly secure for dogs to roam. A rattan table provides space for alfresco dining on blue sky days, with the addition of a garden chimenea for relaxing outdoors after sundown.

Parking is available for one car at Wynnook.


Babies and children

Babes-in-arms are welcome at Wynnook. Please bring your own baby equipment with you.


Dogs

Two dogs are welcome at Wynnook. Dog throws, a bowl and towel are provided, with an outdoor wash station for rinsing muddy paws. For any additional dogs, please get in touch with the team in the office. Please note that there is an additional fee per dog per week or short break.


In the Area

Situated in the heart of Tallentire in the Cumbrian countryside and on the edge of the Lake District National Park, enjoy walks from your front door, where a footpaths and cycling routes await you. Just five-minutes from Wynnook by foot, The Bush promises a warm welcome, with home cooked dishes, local ales, and a cosy wood burner. The Georgian market town of Cockermouth is just a short drive from Wynnook, and is one of only 51 "gem" towns in the country. Known for its rich heritage and culture, Cockermouth is home to Wordsworth House, the childhood home of Wlliam Wordsworth, which is now owned and managed by the National Trust. Now privately owned and open only during exclusive periods, explore the ruins of Cockermouth Castle, which dates back to the early 13th century. You'll also find a host of independent shops, cafes and restaurants within the historic town, including Tillia, Shills and Asparva. The Trout Hotel is also great for Sunday lunches.

Recognised as one of the Best Restaurants in Cumbria in the Michelin Guide, the Cottage in the Wood is only 25-minutes away by car, with a marvellous tasting menu and breathtaking views. For Lakeland adventures, there are a number of beautiful lakes nearby, from Bassenthwaite to Buttermere, Crummock and Loweswater. Located off Derwentwater, the popular market town of Keswick is worth visiting too, and is only 20-minutes from Wynnook, with a year-round weekly market on Saturdays, which is also held on Thursdays from February to December. Ambleside is particularly beautiful, set at the northern end of Windermere, and a little further afield, Grasmere promises quaint shops, galleries and cafes. For literary enthusiasts, its also where William Wordsworth wrote many of his poems, at Dove Cottage.

Offering the best of both land and sea, Wynnook is also just a short distance from the coast, with The Solway Coast recognised as a Designate Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. For leisurely days spent by the shore, visit the Victorian seaside town of Silloth, rich in history, with its long promenade, charming eateries, and beautiful views across the Solway Firth to Scotland.
