We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Woodlanders:

A perfect idyll to grieve the passing of a most beloved best friend and to put finishing touches to a PhD thesis.

Despite storm Darragh, who whipped our world into a bit of a frenzy - with downed trees and broken roof slates - we would not have changed a thing. Ashbeds Cottage - Woodlanders - has absolutely everything you could need. The bed is extremely comfy, the appliances and kitchen items are great, everything has been done to facilitate a wonderful stay - it is very special.

This little forest haven will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Special mention to Jude and the kindness of the owner Kate.

Beautiful cottage which was really well equipped, wonderful location. Loved the enclosed garden for our dog. Perfect stay!

Everything was just beautiful. The cabin was perfect and interior was beautiful. It was incredibly well equipped for a perfect ‘stay in’ stay. We stayed as a relaxing mini moon and managed to realise all the cabin and its surroundings had to offer. We would absolutely stay again and would recommend this to our friends without hesitation.

Our stay at the Woodlanders was incredible! We had an amazing time and we didn’t want leave. Everything was very clean and tidy and the welcome gift was a lovely surprise!

A perfect location to relax and take in the wonderful Shropshire countryside, but within easy travelling distance of Ludlow.

Wonderful cottage. Stylish, compact interior, quiet with stunning views every direction you look. Comfy bed with a skylight onto a gorgeous oak tree. Peaceful and lovely. Thank you!

An ideal retreat for a week of peace and tranquility in an oasis of calm , we didn’t realise how tired we were until we arrived at Woodlanders - we didn’t want to leave and have never felt that way about a holiday cottage before despite doing at least 3 of this type of holiday a year and wish we were back there .

Our first trip to Shropshire was absolutely magical. ‘Woodlanders’ felt like a little piece of heaven tucked away among the trees, with gorgeous rhododendrons and stunning views over the meadows and rolling hills. The cottage was super cosy, stylish, and had everything we needed—plus some fancy extras that made our stay extra special (loved the Tubby Tub & Velvetiser!). We got our fill of shinrin yoku (forest bathing) and loved exploring the surrounding woods and coppice, with a family of Kites soaring overhead. We’re all about supporting local, and nearby Ludlow Farmshop was a real treat. Their Duroc pork chops, Welsh Dragon sausages, and their amazing steak burgers and added Lady Halton smoked cheese made a fabulous BBQ feast in the garden. 'Woodlanders' was the perfect spot to kick off our local adventures. Ludlow Castle was amazing, and they made our dog feel right at home. Chilling with lunch at Charlton Arms, overlooking the River Teme, was just what we needed. Stokesay Castle didn’t disappoint either—our dog loved it there too! The Lion in Leintwardine dished out a fab lunch, and Fiddlers Elbow’s fish & chips by the river in the sunshine? Perfection—don’t skip the beach! A getaway from the weekend bustle to Bury Ditches gave us some awesome views and an epic photo op for our dog on the Iron Age dial. The Castle Hotel at Bishops Castle was a perfect lunch stop, and the town was enchanting with a lovely elephant story. Despite a week of unpredictable weather, Woodlanders seemed blessed with good fortune as we evaded raindrops and basked in unexpected bursts of glorious sunshine. Would certainly return!

It was perfect, lovely accommodation with everything we needed and lovely welcome pack for us and our dog!

Cottage was just lovely and in a beautiful location. Quirky in a very good way with the standard of finish and quality of fixtures and fittings being very much 5*

This is a wonderful little cottage set in the most perfect location. You can genuinely get away from everything and get lost in the views. The interior is stunning and has everything you need for a perfect break to recharge. The amount of wildlife right outside the front door is incredible. As is the option for a range of walks in the beautiful woods and countryside. The added bonus of an EV charger to use meant we didn't need to consider stops specially to charge which was great too. A first rate retreat and we will be back.

Negatives....the week went too fast! Positives....too numerous to mention! What a wonderful retreat in a wonderful location, we couldn't have asked for anything more! Perfection!

Beyond our expectations. The most relaxing spot to bring in the new year. This Gem has everything you need and was presented beautifully. We have already booked to return. Thank you

Really beautiful retreat - we travelled from central London to get away from the city. The cottage has the feeling of being isolated, but also a short 15m drive from some great little towns and things to see and do. Hot tub also fantastic. Would stay again.

Wonderful!

We got engaged here! What an amazing week we have had. So cosy and snug, and everything we could possibly need. Thank you for the super welcome gifts too - we enjoyed it all.

Thank you for a wonderful stay and our welcome treats! We had fun making our own pizza, which tasted incredible cooked in the Ooni. The hot tub was heavenly and with the rainy nights, it was cosy in front of the fire.

Really nice location and we were looking for something that was a bit secluded so it was perfect. The retreat was incredibly well appointed and finished to an exceptionally high standard with literally everything we needed. The treats that were left for us pre-arrival were very well received and a lovely touch. The retreat was also incredibly comfortable and we felt right at home, especially with the log burner which we used all weekend. We also really appreciate the outdoor hot tub.

Beautiful!

Fantastic cottage. High end furniture and furnishings. Owners obviously have gone to a lot of trouble added finishing touches making this a really lovely place to stay.

Lovely cottage accommodation and beautiful views. We loved the woods and walks right on our doorstep, and a short drive to other great walks. Amazing to sit and watch the squirrels in the trees outside - our dog was fascinated and obsessed with them!

The cottage - small but perfectly formed. We have only positive things to say about this beautiful place and location. The view from the cottage - we could never grow tired of it!

A fabulous and relaxing retreat. Lots of lovely touches to make our stay really comfortable. We loved the woodland and the bench for moments of contemplation. The hot tub was lovely being set within the trees and the views from the cottage are outstanding. It was quiet and peaceful and everything we wanted it to be. Thank you.

We were fortunate to stay in this beautiful accomodation for nine nights and how relaxing and enjoyable it was. The highlights were everything about the cottage. Hot tub was fab, bath and showe ramazing, and a well equipped kitchen. Setting was stunning and so quiet. Décor stunning and a comfy bed. Many thanks for letting us stay.

Second visit to Woodlanders and will be going back for a third a great place to chill and relax from everyday life

We loved the cabin so much, it is perfect inside and out! Thank you Kate for the welcome hamper for us and our dog, it was greatly appreciated after a long journey. The garden and hot tub were lovely and despite the wet weather, we enjoyed the views from the living space. Thank you for what was one of our favourite cottages!

Great place to relax and unwind. The cottage was super equipped. Enjoyed seeing deer twice and the owl hooting in the distance. Save for gorgeous bird song it was super quiet. Only see a passing car a handful of times a day, if that. Great place for R&R.

A extremely cosy cottage, perfect for lovers of nature and the outdoors! There are lovely walks right from the doorstep, and many great places to explore in the surrounding villages and towns within an hour's drive. We enjoyed a fabulous week here for our honeymoon and would have happily stayed longer.

A perfect retreat for a relaxing weekend.

A thoroughly relaxing first time in Shropshire at Woodlanders, the retreat was beautifully and carefully appointed with great attention to detail. Unusually large and luxurious bathroom for the size of property. Whilst firing up the hot tub takes time, it did make me stop and focus on the peace of the surroundings, including the kites nesting in the trees behind. If you have a dog (as we do) don’t bother going to Stokesay as it’s not particularly dog friendly. We highly recommend Berrington Hall, Ludlow Castle, Croft Castle and Long Mynd instead. Lastly, the team at Ludlow Farm Shop are superb, well worth going here instead of supermarkets.

An incredibly relaxing and peaceful few days - exactly what we needed. Frank, our sausage dog, loved exploring the garden as we enjoyed the hot tub and watched the buzzards. The wet weather did not spoil our stay, but would love to return in the summer!

Beautiful cottage with fantastic views. We had a wonderful relaxing holiday. Hot tub was a welcome addition and our dog enjoyed sniffing through the garden leaves!

Fantastic stay away from everything. Small touches in the cottage make all the difference. Spotless presentation and stunning views. Hot tub an added bonus, many thanks.

This is a totally adorable and wonderful little cottage in a lovely calm woodland full of beautiful bird noises. It was one of the most relaxing stays we’ve had and the cottage was the nicest we’ve ever stayed in with boutique retreats. It was beautifully appointed, stylish and cosy, and had everything you can think of and more - including a hotel chocolat velvitiser and lovely Bramley products that made the whole place smell heavenly. Honestly a total delight from the first view of the outside to our last evening curled up in front of the fire.

We had an amazing long weekend at woodlanders. The accommodation is stunning and we were surrounded by beautiful landscape. The cottage is a 20 minute drive from Ludlow with lots of lovely pubs, shops and the castle to explore. We loved our stay, thank you.

Lovely weekend in this comfortable accommodation. Lunch in Ludlow at CSONs is recommended. Walked to Clun, enjoying the beautiful autumn colours. Hope to visit again.

We have had a fabulous week away here, thank you so much! We wanted somewhere to escape for a week and we got exactly that! The hot tub is lovely and we loved sitting on the front watching the birds and squirrels. We also enjoyed going for walks with all the wonderful colours everywhere at this time of year. A great little find, that we both thoroughly enjoyed - it's a shame we couldn't stay longer!!

Immaculate cabin, beautiful scenery and a wonderful first stay in Shropshire...

A beautifully equipped and situated cottage. You do not even have to wander out to watch the wildlife, wrens, martins, a barn owl and even a weasel in the tree! Thanks for a very relaxing week.

Just wow! From the moment we arrived we fell in love, from the undulating countryside in front of us and the canopy of trees above, to the pretty cottage itself with its lovely interiors and of course the garden with hot tub...bliss! Stepping inside, everything was spotlessly clean and tidy and oh-so-welcoming, with a fabulous hamper too. We just loved watching twilight descend from the sofa, having the window open at night to hear the birds and of course stepping in to the wood fired hot tub. The wildlife all around was a joy, especially the wren which has nested in the bird box by the door. Being one of the hottest weekends on record, we didn't do too much but the walk to Clun was just lovely. Thank you so much for an amazing holiday we'll never forget!

A lovely quite cabin, very private and relaxing. The welcome package was lovely, along with initial milk, tea, coffee supplies.Lovely toiletries too. Good quality china, knives and pots etc! Everything you could need to eat and cook with.

Blissful, romantic and totally relaxing. A real treat that makes you truly feel that you’ve gotten away from it all. Only downside is having to leave and go back to reality.

This is a lovely cottage in the woods. We loved the setting and it was very peaceful. The welcome hamper was very generous. We would definitely stay here again.

An idyllic location and a high standard of cabin. Lovely setting and the hot tub was in a beautiful location for fantastic views. Peace, quiet and tranquility await you.

Had the most perfect honeymoon at Woodlanders. Really is a beautiful cottage in a very tranquil setting. Would recommend the walk to the Whitehorse Inn over in Clun for a Sunday lunch.

Absolute amazing property, peaceful, relaxing and extremely cosy.

Fabulous location - very cosy (once woodburning stove and radiators mastered!)

The cottage is quiet and secluded, in a lovely stand of trees. Perfect for a romantic, couples weekend away! Loads of walking trails that start from the house, so spoiled for choice! Ludlow has some great restaurants and a spectacular farm shop is nearby. Overall the perfect getaway!

A perfect retreat

The Woodlanders was truly exceptional. The description on Boutique retreats really did do it justice we had a fairy tale weekend. Despite awful weather the woodburning stove and woodburning spa were amazing. There was a hamper awaiting us and on our arrival we received a text from the housekeeper giving us her details in case we needed anything. Fresh flowers in the cottage. Everything seemed to be thought about. In this difficult world it is hard to find something where everything was perfect - we found it here

A lovely relaxing retreat. Cosy & cute, with all the things you need!

If you need to chill out stay here ! It’s beautiful literally in the woods hearing the wildlife at night was wonderful and waking up to the beautiful views was magical loved the skylight window in the bedroom. Beautiful views as we lay in this gorgeously comfortable bed . Went in the wood burning hot tub and walked across the fields to The Hundred House Inn. The owners checkin manual was the best one we’ve ever read tbh everything very clearly explained with detailed maps for various walks In the area. A gorgeous seat right up in the wooded area was a real delight . Absolutely beautiful.

Absolutely beautiful retreat. Really well done and fabulous attention to detail. We loved the Welsh wool fabrics, local and sustainable products in the welcome hamper, the amazing hot tub under the canopy of trees and the look and feel of the cottage itself. We have stayed in other retreat properties (also very lovely) but this was definitely our favourite.

Beautifully presented with all you need for a great stay… very peqaceuld and relaxing and a real get away from it all.

Beautiful cottage in quietly spectacular countryside

A genuinely perfect boutique retreat!

the cottage is perfect for a weekend of relaxation and pure bliss

A simply wonderful, romantic retreat.

The cottage was fantastic. Well appointed and in a lovely location.

It was a beautiful property, small and perfectly formed. Excellent attention to detail and very well equipped. Stunning location too and completely matched the description. Would not hesitate to recommend. Generous goodie basket too that was well thought out. We loved the property and area and hope we can return one day

A MASSIVE thank you

The accommodation was amazing. Lived up to the images and descriptions given/shown. Would highly recommend to others and it was worth every penny.
