Outside, a picturesque courtyard proposes slow sunrises and sundown toasts far removed from the everyday. When you're ready to explore, a plethora of attractions reside within a few miles of the doorstep, from internationally renowned vineyards and craft distilleries to award-winning restaurants and stunning historic landmarks. The spectacular Seven Sisters Country Park is especially enchanting, where white cliffs and pebble-strewn shores promise spellbinding days by the water's edge and beckon for oceanside adventures to begin.

Living

Seek soothing sanctuary in the living room adorned in neutral hues and period features. Exuding charm, exposed beams frame the ceiling and walls, while a stunning brick fireplace offers evenings of fireside calm with a warming AGA wood burning stove. Cosy up on the red velvet loveseat sofa for two as embers glow, or relax into one of the two armchairs to let the day unwind, soundtracked by favourite playlists through the Marshall Bluetooth speaker. For further entertainment, there is also a Samsung Smart TV.

Please note that due to the charming nature of our historic cottage you will find split level floors in some parts of the cottage.

Eating and dining

Step through the living area to find the beautiful, bespoke kitchen curated in shades of green. A picture of perfection with Emerald tiles by deVOL, this welcoming space complete with an AGA embodies a timeless country cottage feel with wood tones, reclaimed Edwardian chequerboard tiles, exposed flintwork, and a peaceful palette. Craft delicious repasts on the generous, sleek black granite worktop as glasses are poured and artisan appetisers are served. Supporting culinary creativity are an array of equipment and accoutrements, such as a Nespresso Creatista and Kitchen Aid for those aromatic cappuccino moments and homemade afternoon teas.

Enter the adjoining dining area to uncover a delightful space with a vintage hutch cabinet and spacious wood dining table for four. Gather together for leisurely brunches and candlelit suppers and savour the serene views. On clement days, step outside the dining room to reach the courtyard and take a seat around the outdoor table and chairs for alfresco feasts.

Sleeping and bathing

Head upstairs for sweet slumber in the first bedroom. The focal point, an antique brass double bed beckons for blissful repose, swathed in the finest linens and dressed in comfortable cushions and throws. Spring florals adorn this space, with period furnishings resting in curated corners for a dose of rustic charm.

For those seeking a little extra space, the second bedroom features an antique brass double bed, where a cloud-soft duvet, luxurious wool blanket, and the highest quality linens tempt for restorative nights. Providing space for stowing belongings is a bespoke, built-in wardrobe and antique French marble-top bedside tables.

Complementing the picture, an exquisite bathroom with underfloor heating resides between the two bedrooms, with stunning Victorian tiles, brass inflections, and a walk-in shower.

Outdoor space

A dreamy space for sun-kissed brunches and starlit soirees, the courtyard garden is a heavenly scene with historic walls garlanded in leafy climbers. Cosy up in one of the wicker chairs topped with cushions, sharing anecdotes and aperitifs in the glow of the firepit. Tempting culinary talents, a Morse barbecue begets deliciously flame-grilled feasts, ready to be served around the vintage iron bistro set for four.

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Flint Cottage:

Thank you so much for hosting us at the gorgeous Flint Cottage and for the delicious hamper, we had such a wonderful weekend here. It was so magical to see all of your considered efforts in person and see so much personality in a retreat. From the exposed flint in the kitchen and dining room, to the stunning light fixtures throughout the cottage, each detail was immaculate. The garden room was a dream, we loved perching in there at every opportunity and listening to the birds in the garden with a glass of wine from Rathfinny in hand. We absolutely adored relaxing here and exploring nearby. We wandered to Cuckmere Haven, Birling Gap, found the Long Man of Wilmington and even popped to Eastbourne to see the pier. Whilst we were here, we got chatting to a local in Barley Sugar Antiques and Wine, who suggested we visit St Michaels church in Berwick, where you can find a breath-taking mural by Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant. Charleston House was a perfect rainy day visit, where you can see their beautiful home and stunning artwork collection. The village is also full on independent shops and eateries such as The Star Inn, The Singing Kettle and of course Badger's Tea House next door. We hope to return to Flint Cottage in the future as it was a perfect base. Thank you so much for the perfect weekend!
