Caerhays Castle and Gardens, Gorran

Caerhays Castle and Gardens, Gorran

This gorgeous Regency castle dates back 200 years and is set within 140 acres of gardens, including stunning coastline and hidden valleys. Home to the Plant Heritage National Collection of Magnolias, the gardens are of national importance, whilst hours can be spent exploring the beautiful coastal paths and beaches.

This is a fab spot for the whole family to visit, and dogs are welcome on leads too. The gardens are open between mid-February to early June to make the most of the incredible display of magnolias, rhododendrons and camellias. English Heritage Listed Grade II, you can take a guided tour or explore the grounds (which also include a lake and woodland) by yourself. If you’re not around during its relatively short opening period, do check out Burncoose Nurseries which is part of the estate and where you can purchase a plant or two to take home with you.

Additionally, there’s a lovely tea room which is open when the castle and gardens are open (mid-February to early June) and also a shop.

Please note that the castle can only be seen via guided tour – please check the website for tour times.
