In the Area
Step out of your door and wander into the heart of Mousehole, probably the most iconic fishing village in Cornwall. Hugging the coastline and protected by Raginnis Hill, it's also one of the oldest with parts of the harbour wall dating back to the twelfth century. Today the village maintains its olde-worlde charm, with narrow cobbled streets, slate roofs, whitewashed cottages and brightly coloured paint work. It's perfect for foodies with a good selection of restaurants, cafés and delis, and is of course just a hop, skip and a jump to the world-famous fishing village of Newlyn! For things to do, St Ives is only 20 minutes' drive away on the north coast, whilst of course there's St Michael's Mount and Marazion to explore on the south. A hidden gem and a must-visit is Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens - a botanical beauty filled with art as well as incredible sea views and an excellent restaurant. Further afield a visit to the Lizard is a must as an AONB, whilst the harbour village of Portheleven has a fab selection of eateries. Alternatively, pop in the car and head further west to Porthcurno and the Minack Theatre, or further around to Cape Cornwall and Sennen Cove. For a walk from your doorstep, join the South West Coastal Path and walk to nearby Lamorna Cove - approximately five miles (there and back) of glorious sea views and a good yomp to blow away the cobwebs!
