With blissful views over the confluence of two tidal rivers, this exquisitely cosy Grade II listed terrace cottage lies nestled on the breath-taking south Cornish coast, close to both the city of Truro and the extraordinary Roseland Peninsula.

Lovingly restored and bedecked in shades of blues and creams, this is the quintessential seaside cottage, perfect for couples seeking a calming, coastal escape. Whether you want to dream the hours away watching boats pass from the pretty window seat or set out to explore the creeks, woodland and beaches, this is a gorgeous cottage to retreat to - and it's dog friendly too!

Setting

Next door to Blythe Cottage you will find Driftwood, set ideally beside one another to cater for larger parties when booked together, whilst offering perfect privacy when the retreats are booked separately. You can view Driftwood here or call us for more information.

Living

From the inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove and beamed ceiling to the dreamy views from the south-facing window seat, the charming sitting room retains all of its original character and is the perfect spot to retreat to when you need some downtime. Whatever time of year you visit, you'll find it cool in the summer with a stable door that can be left open and cosy during colder months with underfloor heating as well as the wood burner. There's a fabulous sofa to sprawl on and we just love the occasional chair - the ideal corner to curl up with a good book. There's a Smart TV with Sky Sports and Sky too, plus SONOS to play your favourite tunes, plus some good old-fashioned games.

As this is a traditional and charming cottage with period features, please bear in mind that the ceilings are quirky and low in places. Please also be mindful when climbing the stairs, as they are quite steep in line with the characterful features of Blythe Cottage.

Eating

The galley-style kitchen is perfectly equipped to rustle up meals for you and your loved one and comes complete with an electric double oven with microwave and grill, induction hob, fridge, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher and all the other essentials you will need. Cornwall is rich in produce, so make sure to explore the local farm shops and pick up some fresher-than-fresh fish straight off the boat - delicious!

There's a darling dining table tucked away in the sitting room for romantic meals tête-à-tête, but in warmer weather you'll not want to move from the outside dining area with its jaw-dropping views over the converging rivers and woodland beyond.

Sleeping

The master bedroom is just a delight with pretty creek views, a comfy king-sized bed, window seat and built-in wardrobe.

There are two further smaller bedrooms - one to the rear with a 3ft bed, wardrobe, and drawers and the other a small, single cabin bed, drawers, along with hooks for hanging your belongings. As the main bedroom has limited space, these are ideal for use as dressing rooms.

One of the bedrooms also has a desk - perfect if you have emails or work to catch up on, or If you're inspired to be the next Daphne Du Maurier!

All the beds are swathed in Egyptian cotton bedlinen, gorgeous throws, and luxurious cushions, making bedtime a joy.

Bathing

The pretty bathroom is small but perfectly formed, boasting a bath for soaks and an overhead shower to wake you up in the morning. There's underfloor heating to keep toes toasty plus a heated rail to keep towels warm and fluffy.

Outdoor space

To the front of the property, overlooking the rivers, is a glorious sun-soaked terrace complete with a teak table, chairs and parasol for alfresco dining and a large Webber kettle barbeque. Facing south west, the terrace is well sheltered from the prevailing winds and is the ultimate spot for spending lazy days, watching the ebb and flow of the tide and the little boats exploring the river.

Parking

There is on road parking in the village. Please note, due to Blythe Cottage's central location between the award-winning pub and popular marina, parking is limited during busier periods.

Babies and children

Babies up to 12-months are most welcome at Blythe Cottage. Please bring your own equipment with you.

As the cottage is accessed via a flight of stone steps situated roadside, this retreat is not suitable for toddlers and young children.

Dogs

One dog is very welcome at Blythe Cottage, two on request, but please note the garden is small and not enclosed. Please note, there is an additional fee per dog, per week or short break.

WiFi

This retreat has WiFi so if you need to stay in touch with the outside world you can.

In the Area

Beautifully positioned on the south Cornish coast in the pretty village of Malpas, Blythe Cottage is perfectly situated from which to explore the best of Cornwall.

From the cottage there are beautiful walks along creek side paths upstream toward both Truro and St Clements. Afterwards take in a coffee or a light meal at the marina cafe and watch the comings and goings on the river. Explore the far West to find St Michael's Mount, the Minack Theatre and St Ives, hop to the north coast for St Agnes and the Heritage Coast or head east for The Eden Project and The Lost Garden of Heligan - the choice is yours!
