A hidden-away, luxurious cabin in the countryside awaits you at Rogues Roost. Oh-so-romantic, this is a must for country lovers seeking a private escape away from it all. Inside, it's sleek, open plan living with the bedroom on a separate mezzanine level and with underfloor heating throughout. Outside, there's a glorious garden surrounded by trees, overlooking the river and rolling countryside beyond, complete with a private decking area for serious relaxation under the sun - or stars.

The super-cosy sitting area is just the perfect spot to cuddle up during cooler months. With a roaring wood burning stove, a large comfy sofa, occasional chair, large television with DVD player, this is the ideal spot to relax in at the end of a busy day out exploring, curled up in front of the flickering flames with your favourite tipple.

The sleek kitchen is not only a delight to look at, it's chock-full of everything you need to wow your beloved with your culinary know-how. With a fan oven, induction hob, dishwasher, washing machine and everything else you might need safely tucked away, plus there's plenty of prep space too.

There's a breakfast bar for snacks on the go or for sitting at watching the chef at work, plus a cosy dining table for two for romantic meals.

Totnes and the surrounding area is fabulous for incredible local produce, so make sure to visit a farm shop or two and other independent shops to pick up some amazing food to take back to your retreat to enjoy, or maybe put together a picnic.

Sleeping and bathing

Up on the mezzanine, you'll find the pretty sleeping area with a super comfy king size bed, gently sunlit by the Velux windows above, you can watch the tops of the trees gently swaying in the summer breeze whilst enjoying a leisurely breakfast in bed. During warmer months, you can open the glass door to the side to let the sounds of nature lull you to sleep whilst outside you'll find a table and chairs for morning coffee.

The en suite bathroom has a deeply luxurious bathtub for two - what better way to relax than a deep soak? There's also a refreshing shower to wake you up in the mornings, plus a heated towel rail to keep towels warm and fluffy.

Outdoor space

Rogues Roost is surrounded by some seriously beautiful countryside to gaze at, with trees behind and unspoilt views of the river and rolling Devonian countryside ahead. To the front and side of the property lies a lawned garden with a balcony off the mezzanine level and a private decking area leading off the living area. There are tables, chairs and loungers to make the most of the sunny spots.

There is plenty of off road, private parking.

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Rogues Roost:

Amazing cottage for a relaxing week away and will definitely return- would have booked already but fully booked for months ahead!!

Rogues roost was very clean and comfortable, it had everything you need for a fabulous holiday. We enjoyed sitting in the very pretty garden after a day visiting this lovely part of Devon.

Beautiful retreat in a lovely private position. We felt totally relaxed at Rogues Retreat and would not hesitate to make a return visit. The whole place is furnished with flair and style with comfort in mind.

What a wonderful cottage to stay. We had a warm welcome from our hosts. The cottage was spotless and everything you needed was on hand. I have stayed in a few Boutique Retreats cottages and is the best

The best cottage we have ever stayed in. Beautiful décor and very comfortable furniture with everything you would need. Very well equipped kitchen. Comfortable bed, quality bedding and soft large towels. The situation of the retreat was fantastic very peaceful with the sound of river from the veranda. Great welcome basket with 1st night essentials. Will be recommending this cottage to friends

Beautiful, cosy haven where we felt immediately relaxed. We loved everything about the property and had the best week and hope to return, thank you

Such a lovely relaxing place with lots to do right on the doorstep!

We absolutely loved our stay here, “retreat” is exactly the right word to use to describe it, we immediately relaxed, enjoyed the beautiful accommodation and felt we were in a 5* luxury retreat.

A fantastic property for a relaxing break. We hardly left due to the weather however we still enjoyed our time and were sad to leave.

Lovely place - comfy, clean and cosy - what more can you ask for when you are escaping for Christmas break!

Lovely comfortable stay at this retreat which was very nicely done out and furnished and appreciated the little touches like having some basic essential waiting for us, and loved having the wood burner on cold evenings. The location was very good only a few miles out from Totnes and within easy reach to the rest of the South Hams. We'd definitely stay again. Thanks

Such a stunning place, we truly enjoyed a relaxing week at Rogues Roost. We received a very warm welcome and lovely little treats inside which were really appreciated. The cottage was immaculate inside and out. When you’re inside or out on the decking you feel like you have total privacy. The view from the loungers is amazing. The cottage has everything you could need and is only a 5 min drive from Totnes for restaurants. There are also a couple of fab pubs within a 40 min walk in the beautiful countryside. Bens farm is a 10min drive away and perfect for stocking some essentials. Would recommend in a heartbeat and hope to return.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rogues Roost. It was immaculately clean & well looked after. We felt relaxed & at home from the start. So peaceful with the sound of the river. The welcome bottle of bubbly was greatly appreciated. Would thoroughly recommend.

Wonderful interiors. We felt so comfortable at this property.

Really well situated for Totnes and Dartmouth. Well furnished and equipped. Very comfortable.

A perfect retreat - best ever.

The cottage was beautifully presented and the owners had thought of everything to make our stay a luxury experience. We cannot recommend it highly enough

It was beautiful- we felt very relaxed and had a perfect week. The retreat was beautifully clean and the welcome food was really thoughtful. Ludmilla was really helpful. I have recommended to you to many friends

We had the most relaxing week! The owners gave us a lovely welcome and respected our privacy throughout. Everything about Rogues Roost is five star and there is exemplary attention to detail. The Retreat is stunningly designed and was spotlessly clean. We really appreciated all the little touches. Cooking was not a chore in the beautiful kitchen and all utensils and tableware needed were available. We slept well and enjoyed the garden at the end of the day. I would definitely recommend Rogues Retreat.

Absolutely stunning retreat and we would love to go back in the future. Very helpful local info provided by the owner when we ran into her.

It rained but we still loved it!

Perfect stay at Rogues Roost. House was beautiful with everything we needed for a relaxing break. Close to town but nicely out of the way for a calm and restful getaway.

This needs to be on your "must visit" list.

Absolutely lovely place to stay - very stylish and comfortable - in a great location

Possibly the nicest cottage we’ve ever stayed in! Beautifully designed inside and out. Very comfortable with great facilities and a friendly host. Would love to return.

The retreat was as advertised online and exactly what we needed for a New Years break. The owners were excellent hosts and popped over when we arrived to ensure that we knew how everything worked and had everything we needed. Highly recommended!

'The perfect location to get away from it all. The place was spotless and and extremely well stocked kitchen for all your cooking needs. Beds, sofas and the cottage was spot on. Ludmila greeted us and left some milk, eggs, jam and a bottle of bubbles in the fridge, could not been more of a perfect start. Perfect location for Darmouth, Totnes and costal walks, of which we did many. Looking forward to visiting again soon we hope' - October 2020

'As well as the stylish interior the property has outside space to enjoy and on two levels, with sight and sound of the river and woods' - August 2020

'I loved it and hope to book again maybe later this year. The house was ideal to get away from it all - especially if you've been working at home for 5 months! - very peaceful, beautiful garden, lovely private terrace, beautiful interiors and spotlessly clean (especially reassuring at the moment). Also good walks straight from the house and ideally positioned for the coast as well as Dartmoor' - August 2020
