Boutique Cottages in Dartmouth

Situated on the banks of the gorgeous River Dart, Dartmouth in South Devon is a wonderful town with a rich history and has plenty to see and do. Its characterful streets are filled with independent shops, galleries, a museum and places to eat, whilst the picturesque waterfront is just made for a promenade on a sunny day, or just to sit and watch the boats sail by.

With plenty of heritage and history, Dartmouth has links to the Royal Navy and was also where the Pilgrim Fathers set off on the Mayflower in 1620 to America. The castle dates back over 600 years, where it has stood guard over the narrow estuary entrance to the River Dart. It was also home to Agatha Christie, one of our greatest crime writers, who lived at nearby Greenway, now a National Trust owned property.

Surrounded by stunning countryside, make sure to don your boots and explore – the South West Coast Path runs past Dartmouth and it’s a great walk to enjoy spectacular estuary and sea views. For something a little more leisurely, catch one of the many ferries that meander up and down the river, going as far as Totnes and Salcombe.
