Out & About

Overlooking the Atlantic coastline of Cornwall is the picturesque village of Zennor. This gorgeous area is perfect for exploring high coastal cliffs, taking in the sea-salt air and enjoying the stunning panoramic views. Wonderfully rural and tranquil, Zennor is the ideal destination to relax and escape city life whilst also being a short drive away from the bustling harbour town of St Ives.

Ideally located near a variety of pristine beaches, bursting with mining history and heritage and boasting some of the most spectacular views Cornwall has to offer, Zennor is the ultimate location to unwind in a luxury self-catering cottage and experience the beautifully wild, boulder-strewn countryside. Take a peek through our boutique selection and look forward to days of rejuvenation, Cornish-style.

Though tucked away in the countryside, Zennor has an abundance of local restaurants and country pubs to sample and enjoy - many making the most of the fresh local produce and specialising in seafood. A particularly well-known option, the Gurnard’s Head is a dining pub with a small, fresh and seasonal menu that changes each day according to their daily delivery of local ingredients.

Another great choice, the Tinner’s Arms is set in the heart of Zennor and has been established in the village for over 700 years. This glorious country pub has a cosy and welcoming atmosphere, provides freshly prepared meals, tasty real ale and has a sun garden with views over the Atlantic Coastline.

Round off your meal with the nation’s favourite sweet treat – ice cream. If you are a fan of these cold, creamy dollops of goodness, you’re in the right place as Zennor is home to Moomaid of Zennor Ice Cream. A visit to one of their parlours is a must and we can particularly recommend their ‘Shipwreck’ ice cream: sea salt ice cream with dulce de leche caramel and honeycomb. Dribble.

For walkers and hikers, you can take a rest, grab a drink and perhaps a bite to eat at the delightful Zennor Chapel Guest House and Café, situated half a mile from the South West Coast Path. This lovely café boasts a range of cakes, teas and coffee as well as serving breakfast for you early risers. Those who love traditional pubs will enjoy a drink in the Tinner’s Arms, whilst the romantics among you won’t be able to resist an alfresco glass of fizz overlooking the sea at Zennor Head.

Further afield, the thriving seaside town of St Ives is a 5-mile drive and home to a huge number of restaurants, bars and cafés. From the much-loved waterside Porthminster Beach Café to the Sloop (one of the oldest pubs in Cornwall) to the wharfside gastro-bar SilCo. Searoom, you will be spoilt for choice. Take a perch and sip on an ice-cold cocktail or something soft and embrace every moment of your luxury holiday in this unrivalled part of the world.

During a luxury holiday in Zennor, a visit to the famous Zennor Head is a must, boasting stunning views and a variety of walks which you can enjoy. If you would like to stretch your legs or want to enjoy somewhere truly spectacular to walk your dog, there is a circular coastal walk which goes past Veor Cove, over Carnelloe Cliff and Treen Cove where you can see remains of an engine house and an ancient medieval chapel.

Famous for the legend of the Mermaid of Zennor, you should also make a trip to St Senara Church. As the story goes, many, many years ago a local chorist fell in love with a mysterious young lady who came to the church from time to time. The man, Mathew Trewella, decided to follow her one day after a service as she was making her way back over the cliffs. He never returned, but from that day, local fishermen could hear him singing from the sea; soft and high if the day was to be fair, deep and low if it were to be rough.
