Bedroom details
3 Bedrooms (Sleeps 6 + cot)
Tucked away down a quiet hedgerow-lined country lane, this glorious retreat for six is so peaceful, with breathtaking views over rolling fields across to Mullion Cove. Originally the Mine Captain's cottage, it's blissfully quiet and a designated Dark Skies area, the house is set within a pretty cottage garden, where delicate flowers nod in the sea breeze. This lovely granite clad retreat is much bigger than it first appears - step through the front door and you'll find stunning interior-designed rooms which are warm and welcoming; totally contemporary in design yet wholly in keeping with its heritage and gorgeous original features. Lyonesse just perfect for a family holiday, a group of friends or a couple wanting lots of space and quietude - and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle reportedly stayed here too, so you're in good company!
Living
Country meets coastal in the calming, well-appointed living space - the oldest part and the heart of the home with bags of character. With a low beamed ceiling, inglenook with large wood burning stove, wooden floor and thick, whitewashed walls you can really see the history behind this home. Coupled with luxurious velvet Loaf sofas, geometrically-patterned rug, fabulous art work and well thought out finishing touches, this is a room that's cosy in winter and blissfully cool on the hottest of summer days. You'll find an additional snug/TV room or den tucked away to the back of the house - ideal for kids wanting their own space to catch up with a film or two and play games, or for someone wanting a quiet hour or two by themselves. We just love the wood burning stove which lies between the snug and the small office space - a perfect spot if you need to catch up with work or homework.
Eating
Experienced and amateur chefs alike will love the kitchen at Lyonesse. With a fabulous black Aga to keep you super-warm during winter months (avaliable to use between beginning of November to to the end of March), there's also a sturdy range gas cooker, huge Smeg fridge/freezer and all the other essential equipment you'll need to whip up meals in this incredibly spacious kitchen with marble worktops and cool tiled floor. Next door there's a handy utility - great for storing wetsuits and surfboards. There are two excellent dining spaces - one in the pretty conservatory overlooking the garden and the other in the main living space. The conservatory is perfect for breakfasts and lunches, whilst the grand, metal-topped table in the living area is made for long dinners over candlelight. Of course, during the summer months you can make the most of the warm weather with a spot of alfresco dining.

The second en suite bedroom, also with dual-aspect windows, has a king size bed, original fireplace, gorgeous window seat overlooking the countryside and towards Mullion Cove whilst the lovely third en suite bedroom has twin beds, large roof windows and impressive vaulted ceiling.
Outdoor space
The outdoor area is just gorgeous, with a traditional cottage garden to the front (complete with garden gate) - perfect for sitting in with a morning coffee. Adjacent to the house, accessed by crossing the public footpath, is a lovely spot slightly raised at one end with a terrace, table and chairs so you can lunch and gaze out to sea at the same time - just perfect! Little ones will love looking for the hidden well (don't worry - it's completely safe!) whilst adults will enjoy this peaceful little corner of paradise.
