Special 'Just for Two' rate

A special 'Just for Two' rate applies if there are only two guests staying at Forager. The discount off the advertised rate is 20%. This applies outside of peak booking weeks and school holidays only.

Living

The long and elegant living area is split into three sections, all strung together with retro light fixtures and a melange of gold, dusky pinks and opulent blue hues and soft oak flooring. At one end is the cosy snug, tranquil and beautiful, with two sofas and an armchair plus a gorgeous ornamental fireplace with roaring Chesney wood burner - perfect for reminiscing and storytelling with friends and families over a bottle of wine.

We just love the wood panelling that runs to the second living area; here you'll find a desk should you need to catch up on work or if you're feeling inspired to write or paint.

The sitting room at the opposite end is seriously sumptuous with plenty of seating so everyone can gather around for family film using the Smart TV and Sonos sound bar. Choose to snuggle up on the pretty mustard yellow or the luxurious blue velvet sofa with a soft blanket and a cup of hot chocolate and enjoy the warmth of the Rasmussen woodburning stove flickering against the stunning antique tiles.

Eating

The statement galley kitchen is black, bold and beautiful with plenty of storage and worktop space, plus all the gadgets and gizmos you could ever need to rustle up a delicious meal, including an electric Stoves range cooker, dishwasher, fridge freezer and the all-important Nespresso coffee machine. More than just practical, this is also a lovely spot to sip your morning coffee with its carrera marble quartz worktops, ink black cabinets, industrial-style lamps, stunning white subway tiles and pretty views up to garden.

Step through the double doors from the snug or kitchen and you'll find the bright and blissful conservatory dining area. Surrounded by the lush greenery of the garden, this is a perfect space for family gatherings with its beautiful zinc-topped trestle table and sheepskin covered chairs. Settle in for the evening with your loved ones for a merry meal or on sunny days you can throw open the doors and let in that country breeze.

In addition, the bootroom has a washer/dryer.

Sleeping

Forager has the choice of four heavenly bedrooms, all adorned with tranquil shades of whites, greys and blues. Every bed is swathed in gorgeous linens and soft luxurious throws to ensure a blissful nights' sleep after a day out exploring.

The stunning master bedroom boasts a Loaf king size bed, a built-in wardrobe and a Victorian chest of drawers to keep clothes tucked away. The stylish en suite is a shower room and comes complete ith underfloor heating to keep your toes warm in the morning.

The second bedroom has a plumptuous super king bed which is a zip-and-link, meaning it can also be made up as a twin. It also benefits from a Loaf chest of drawers, pretty antiques and a Smart TV. It's also the best room for setting up the cot, should you need one.

Bedroom number three is a snug 4ft 6" double, super cosy with stunning garden views and out over the rolling countryside.

Bedroom four is just darling with cleverly designed carpentry bunks - perfect for little ones to share!

All beds have high quality anti allergy bedding for a great nights' sleep.

Babies and children

Forager welcomes children and babes in arms. One travel cot and one highchair can be provided on request.

Please note, as the garden area consists of steps and slopes, children will need to be supervised at all times whilst outside.

Bathing

The master bedroom has its own modern en suite shower room and there is a family bathroom which has a sensational roll-top bath with overhead shower. You can enjoy complimentary White Company toiletries and well as warm and fluffy towels straight off the heated rails.

Outdoor space

Not only set in rolling countryside, Forager has its very own picturesque hillside! From the conservatory, make your way up the hill to enjoy one of the best views Devon has to offer with long stretches of green fields, panoramic sky views and nothing between you and the sunshine.

Just a few steps up from the conservatory, you'll find a decked, woodland walkway lit by pretty festoon lighting, as well as low level lights. This walkway leads to a lovely decking area, complete with table and chairs for six for sun-soaked moments, al fresco dining and tipples on balmy summer nights.

Enjoy a spot of lunch on the decking area whilst the little ones and the dogs run free on the green lawn and the fire pit area is perfect for spending evenings in the great outdoors by the firepit, turn on the outdoor lights, grab a bag of marshmallows and make some precious memories under the stars. At the top of the hill you will find the Hillside Hangout/Garden room - fully equipped as a chill out zone with comfy sofas, drinks fridge, and the most incredible view to be enjoyed either from inside the hideout or on the deck outside.

Please note, the garden area consists of steps and slopes, which may not be easily accessible for guests with mobility restrictions. If you have any queries about the access, please get in touch with the office.

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Forager:

A wonderful holiday cottage - thoughtfully prepared, well equipped and maintained, delightfully curated and super cosy.

Forager is the most beautiful property, furnished to an exceptionally high standard in a very peaceful location.

Wonderful!

Lovely retreat.

Fabulous cottage in a beautiful location, exactly as described. It was perfect for a group of 6 adults and 2 dogs celebrating a special birthday. Very comfortable lounges with cosy fires. We appreciated the outside hose and boot room in relation to the dogs. Enjoyed the forest/riverside walk into Dittisham, The Fizz Boat followed by rugby in The Ferry Boat, 2 relaxed meals in the atmospheric dining room then a superb lunch at The Bull to round it all off. Thank you Rebecca & Simon for your hospitality and the fabulous welcome gift too. We would love to return, hopefully in warmer weather when we can enjoy the outside too.

A very cosy and comfortable cottage that was perfect for relaxing by the fire whilst the storms raged outside.

Forager is the most wonderful house, beautifully appointed with everything one could possibly need for a perfect holiday. We spent a magical Christmas there and on arrival found an amazing welcome hamper, gorgeous decorations everywhere and even presents under the tree. We were a multi generational party and the layout of the house means that everyone can have a bit of space. We especially loved the connected design resulting in every room downstairs flowing into each other. And the two wood burning stoves at either end are a joy. The surrounding area is fabulous, totally unspoilt and several walks straight from the front door. We loved Dittisham and the Ferryboat Inn, took the little ferry to Greenway, had lunch in Dartmouth and visited the stunning local beaches. This is a very special retreat indeed and we hope to return one day.

The perfect getaway location. Nice, cosy, quiet and secluded with most amenities within a 5-10 mile radius. Would definitely recommend. A perfect home from home, cosy cottage.

A fabulous house! A lot of thought has been put into the making of Forager. A very special rental property. A five star home from home!

Excellent cottage, we were very happy.

Gorgeous setting, lively cottage with everything we could possibly need. Really attractive and comfortable. Felt very welcoming and relaxing. Kitchen really well stocked and even enjoyed the games! Welcome pack was fab.We would definitely book again.

We were delighted with the house. Such a lovely, relaxing week. We had the best sleep and everything we could possibly need. We loved making the most of the sunshine in the beautiful garden and taking in the scenery.

Idyllic cottage in a beautiful part of Devon. Spoilt for fabulous restaurants in the surrounding areas. We will certainly book again.

If you want tranquility and a cosy stunning cottage in a great location, then Forager is the one. Every room is lovely, the fires kept us warm & cosy, and the walks were picture perfect. Just book it.

We loved it ! A perfect location for a relaxing break.

Glorious location away from the hustle and bustle with every aspect of the cottage carefully considered. Our best Retreat to date, and a real tonic for the fortnight we spent there.

What a fabulous time spent here in your beautiful cottage. Everything was utterly fab. The welcome hamper was a lovely treat and the local wine was a win. Nothing disappointed us.

We have had an amazing time at Forager. It is absolutely beautiful and so comfortable. We enjoyed visits to Dartmouth Castle and took the ferry to Greenway. We are very sorry to be leaving as we love this area and staying at Forager has made it all the more special.

This is a gorgeous and relaxing cottage. Very dog friendly. Stunning views from the garden house. Just a short drive to glorious beaches and creeks.

Lovely stay at Forager. A beautiful house with lovely design touches. Garden and seating areas wonderful, shall miss the views! Our teenagers loved the garden hideout and firepit. Thanks for a great week.

It was everything we expected. We loved our stay.

Beautiful, peaceful location with great attention to detail given to comfort and convenience - a real home from home with bells on. The views from the top of the garden were stunning. Milly loved the extra dog goodies - nice touch.

Stunning cottage set in a peaceful location. We came home feeling recharged. Would definitely stay again.

A wonderful stay and an amazing place to start 2022. Peaceful, beautifully decorated and a generous welcome pack. We loved the fires, the garden, the location and felt really at home

We had such a special Christmas at Forager. Such a beautiful spot to stay in with such fantastic scenery. Many laughs and stories shared around the beautiful table and incredible walks around Slapton, Dartmouth and East Cornworthy. Thank you for such a memorable time.

A totally glamorous and supremely well equipped cottage in glorious location in rolling countryside. Guaranteed you will return feeling refreshed and wanting to book again!!

We loved the Forager, though isolated, and it was so comfortable, The beds and bedlinen where amazing. Kitchen just perfect and lots of space for everyone. Garden and setting beautiful, especially if you are walkers with dogs. We had a lovely break the owners have thought of everything. Would certainly recommend it and Boutique Retreats.

The cottage is a lovely property located in a stunning part of Devon, within easy walking distance of a shop and pub. The cottage was extremely relaxing, but there was plenty to see and do in the surrounding area.

Beautiful cottage in a stunning location. Owners had thought of everything. Totally relaxing weekend away & dog friendly - perfect!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Forager. The cottage is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. If you're looking for a plush but cosy rural getaway that really feels like a home from home then this hits the mark in spades. We visited over Christmas—it would also be great to visit in warmer weather so that we could make use of the hilltop garden and summer house.

'We had a wonderful week at Forager. Exploring the local area, Bigbury, Hopecove and South Milton beaches. Other days curled up on the sofa by the fire which was bliss. We will take back the view from the garden, the quiet birdsong and the smell of the countryside. 'Til next time.' - May 2021

'Between the sunset drinks in the garden with its spectacular views, evening drinks infront of the roaring wood fire, laughter around the light drenched breakfast table and the most peaceful of sleeps - a truly resorative place - and that’s before leaving the cosyness of Forager to explore Devon Heaven.' - May 2021

'We have had a wonderful stay at Forager. Loved the local village of Dittisham, a delightful walk through the wild garlic woods. Loved the summer house, top of the garden for superlative views whilst dogs basked on the decking. Certain to return to this gem of a cottage - thanks for everything to make it so special.' - April 2021

'Wonderful stay at the cottage, we were lucky to have a mix of weather with lovely sunny days on the hill and cooking fresh fish on the fire pit. A few rainy days curled up in front of the fire too. Perfect break away.' - April 2021

'We've had a lovely stay at Forager. The Cottage is beautifully done. We enjoyed a mixture of relaxing here by the log burner and going out exploring. A great break...' - December 2020

'A truly wonderful property in the most amazing location. Plenty of walks directly from the property with the most amazing views of the river and plenty of characterful hamlets in which to explore!' - September 2020
