Tucked away in the countryside and set within Dartmoor National Park, this wonderful country-chic retreat is ready to welcome you in its friendly embrace, offering a peaceful, idyllic escape from the world and the perfect homestay for complete relaxation. With two bedrooms, Asteria is perfect for families whilst it's also fantastic for couples seeking a more spacious home away from home, whilst a large kitchen, two living spaces and a terrace garden means there's room for everyone, whether you're on a summer holiday or a winter getaway. Inside you'll find soft colours and delightful hues throughout; designed and styled by renowned interior designer Holly Keeling, she has beautifully reflected the gentle, natural colours of the surrounding countryside in this beautiful cottage. Asteria's central location means there's plenty to see and do, from the wilds of Dartmoor, the pretty rolling Devon countryside and its towns and villages, to both the south and north coasts of Cornwall and Devon - just perfect!

Living

Downstairs, the beautifully cosy snug is blissfully peaceful and the perfect place to relax, with nothing but the crackle of the wood burner to accompany you. With wood panelled walls, comfy three-seater sofa and two armchairs, there's plenty of room for four people. In addition, there's an Apple TV and DVD player for catching up with your favourite box set or losing yourself in a film or two plus a Roberts digital radio.

Upstairs there's a delightfully open sitting area with a window seat to gaze out of, a cosy two-seater sofa and an armchair. Here the sun streams through most of the day, making it perfect for a doze, to catch up with a good book or to get together over afternoon tea or pre-dinner drinks.

Eating

The magnificent kitchen is simply divine and just a dream to cook in. Full of everything you could possibly need to rustle up meals and snacks such as the Miele induction hob, Siemens oven, Miele dishwasher, American fridge freezer with ice maker plus all the other essentials including a Nespresso coffee maker and milk frother, even the pickiest of cooks will be satisfied. There is also a Siemens washer dryer.

The large oak dining island and island stools, from Neptune, is the perfect setting for mealtimes whilst during warmer weather there's an outside dining table for six.

Sleeping

There are two stunning bedrooms to choose from, both in gorgeously soft neutral tones.

The master bedroom with stunning French bateau king - sized bed from 'And So to Bed' is resplendent with crisp white linens, sumptuous bedding and velvet throw and cushions. With two sash windows, gorgeous wood-panelled walls and a huge mirror, this is a light yet cosy room, the dreamiest escape at the end of the day. In addition, there's a dressing table with mirror, large built-in wardrobe, TV with DVD player and a Roberts istream internet radio.

The second bedroom is prettily romantic, drawing on its countryside setting. A zip-and-link bed offers flexible sleeping and can be made into either twin beds or a super king, so perfect for a family with children, or friends travelling together. The lovely dressing table and a built-in wardrobe offer plenty of storage space too whilst this room also has a TV with DVD player and a Roberts Bluetooth radio.

Bathing

The family bathroom has a wonderful bath for long soaks and an overhead shower to wake you up in the morning. In addition, heated rails ensure towels are kept warm and fluffy.

Outside space

Outside you'll find a large private terrace with a two-seater sofa, two armchairs, two loungers and a coffee table - the perfect lounging experience! In addition, there's a dining table and chairs for six plus a Weber one touch barbeque for meals alfresco. There is also a smaller separate area where two reclining chairs and a coffee table can be found.

Asteria will have the wonderful addition of a hot tub, from Friday 1st April 2022.

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Asteria:

Fabulous stay at Asteria! Great access to everything Dartmoor has to offer. A beautiful property in stunning surroundings. Would recommend Wistmans Wood for a beautiful, scenic walk. Thank you very much!

Absolutely perfect!! Asteria was just wonderful and Miranda was the perfect host! The attention to detail, second to none! Highly recommend the pie at Peter Tavy! Thank you so much again! We will return x

After a "difficult" year - globally and personally - staying here has been delightful, restorative, relaxing, charming and thoroughly enjoyable . We have a rule/ mantra "why would you ever stay/go/holiday anywhere that wasn't as good as, better, different, more relaxing than one's own home..." So no disappointment here! From the outset Miranda was thoughtful, generous, anticipative, discreet but available. Our rescue dog Ronald barely relaxes anywhere but cosied up next to our roaring fires and declined too many walks . Beds so enveloping, peace and quiet and every day a new corner of the wondrous Dartmoor. In what can only be described as 'l'dreich" weather, Asteria provided us with a welcome in the hillside! Not only was every creature comforts provided, it was stylish and thoughtful. We have loved exploring new territory and returning to a welcoming home. Thank you.

Stunning! Our stay at Asteria has been perfect. A beautifully styled cottage, with attention to detail which makes it even more special! Lots of walking and pub lunches. Would highly recommend the Dartmoor Inn and The Who'd Have Thought It Inn, both serving delicious food and dog friendly too! Thank you.

We have had a really brilliant stay at Asteria, such a lovely cottage with stylish and classy touches everywhere whilst at the same time retaining simple homely charm! We love it! We've had great walks on the moor, great food at the Endsleigh and Cornish Arms and the beer's good too. Thanks for the hamper and the fizz!

Amazing location! Amazing place! Amazing host! Amazing food! Thank you for a lovely stay Miranda and all your helpful advice. Looking forward to our next visit. Cornish Arms is a must!

Thank you for such a beautiful home for our holiday. Every room is special and all with thoughtful touches. Gorgeous kitchen with everything needed to cook and lovely cosy snug with a fire for the evenings. Beds amazingly comfy and made for a restful stay in very beautiful bedrooms. Also very well looked after by Miranda - (warm and lovely owner). Thank you x

Miranda and Antony were fantastic hosts - we had everything we needed, and they were super helpful during our stay. The space was fantastic - I used the upstairs 'sunroom' for a couple of work calls, and the outdoor area and BBQ were perfect for the sunny weather we had. We had a fantastic stay at Asteria - the weather was great and really enjoyed the BBQ and outdoor space!

Thank you for such a wonderful stay in Asteria! Beautiful house which was so well stocked with everything we could possibly need, and the amazing hamper! Great local recommendations from the owner including The Cornish Arms - fantastic food! Thank you!

We had a fabulous stay. Everything was perfect. Great location.
