Surrounded by rustling trees and enjoying an elevated position over a valley, the views are just glorious, overlooking the famous River Teifi and the pretty village of Newcastle Emlyn. Inside, the décor is classic vintage accentuated with modern Scandi touches and tactile, traditional Welsh fabrics - a mix that works incredibly well. From the splendid wooden floors to the rich colour schemes, pretty lighting to the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, this is a home stay perfect for families, friends or a couple seeking plenty of space to relax. It's also an excellent base for those who love the outdoors with walks, fishing and cycling opportunities galore on your doorstep.

Living and eating

The Scandinavian-designed open plan living, dining and kitchen area covers most of the ground floor and boasts floor-to-ceiling glass windows, offering stunning views and flooding the room with beautiful natural light. The pretty sitting area has a stunning, modern wood burner at its heart whilst the incredible kitchen - complete with Range cooker, Smeg fridge/freezer and all the equipment you will need to rustle up a feast, including the essential coffee machine - is sleek and modern in shades of cream and blue. We love the island which offers lots more prep space and a handy breakfast bar. In front of the kitchen, overlooking the pastoral views, is the dining table which easily seats six. In addition, there's a hidden-away snug with gorgeous seating, books and a record player - a fabulous spot for curling up for a peaceful moment to read or having a quiet chat.

Sleeping and bathing

You'll find one king-size en suite bedroom on the ground floor with fitted wardrobes and walk-in shower room, making it ideal for those with limited mobility (but please note there are a few steps to enter the property). Upstairs, you'll find two more gorgeous king-size en suite bedrooms - one with a walk-in shower and the other with walk-in shower and roll top bath. All the bathrooms have underfloor heating to keep toes toasty warm, whilst all of the bedrooms are beautifully decorated and have beds swathed in luxurious, softer-than-soft bedding to ensure a blissful nights' sleep.

Outdoor space

There's plenty of outdoor space with a terrace which can be accessed via the floor-to-ceiling sliding windows in the kitchen, allowing the outside in, and comes complete with a table, chairs and barbeque for a spot of outside dining (please note, the fire pit has been removed). Facing west, this spot gets the most incredible sunsets and is a perfect place to relax at the end of the day, with a glass of something chilled in hand. Children will love the large lawn for outdoor games, whilst if they look up they might spot a red kite or two, soaring high in the sky.

WiFi

The Stables has WiFi so if you need to stay in touch with the outside world you can.

Parking

There is private parking for two cars, with access to an electric car charging point (please bring your own cable), to the side of the wood store. The Owners kindly ask for a £35 contribution for use of this throughout your stay. Payment arranged on arrival.

Dogs

This is one of our pet-free properties.

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about The Stables:

The Stables is a beautiful house. The open plan kitchen/living room was perfect for spending time as a family. The kitchen was so well equipped, with sharp knives, which seems a small point but so important to us!

The bedrooms and bathrooms were all beautifully decorated and the beds so comfortable. I wish it was my home!

Lovely stay in a beautiful house, not much in Newcastle Emlyn itself but there are some wonderful places just a short drive away

Lovely spacious property, comfortable, lovely view and good location, clean and nicely kept, enjoyed our stay.

The property is exactly like the photos and suited us perfectly. It was clean, well maintained and had everything we needed. The views and surrounding area are beautiful. We had a wonderful holiday and would definitely recommend.

Wonderful location - The view was outstanding. The house was airy and very well decorated - even had a record player which we enjoyed using in the evenings which was a lovey thoughtful touch. We wish we could have stayed longer.

Warm, comfortable and welcoming - a great place to spend a week in West Wales. Even when the weather is wet, there is lots to do; we recommend the Coracle centre at Cenarth and the national Wool Museum, both good for adults and children alike.

Beautiful cottage in a great location. The rooms were all decorated perfectly, with the kitchen, living and dining area a real show-stopper. Can’t wait to return. The owners were really helpful and it was lovely arriving to a complementary bottle of Prosecco :)

My children loved the cottage and were so happy exploring the space and making themselves at home for the week. It was the perfect place for us.

Lovely cottage, comfortable and warm. We'll equipped. Convenient for the coast and local facilities.

Beautiful house. Very comfortable, well equipped and lovely stay.

Absolutely immaculate and very well presented. All the bedrooms were lovely and great size so perfect for 3 sets of couples who want own bathrooms and separate areas for relaxing. Nice welcome treats.

Excellent cottage, very comfortable and extremely well equipped. Garden lovely. 15-25 mins drive to lovely sandy beaches. Ideal for families.

A beautiful retreat ideally located to explore the local area and coastline. The Stables were excellently presented and made for a most relaxing and special stay.

It was amazing - everything of a very high standard. We would certainly recommend!! Thank you

This property certainly had the wow factor. The location is beautiful and peaceful. I throughly enjoyed my stay and particularly loved the outdoor space. The attention to detail in the property is amazing with lovely furnishings. I would rate this as one of the best rental properties I have ever stayed in.

Catherine and Craig, the owners of the property, were incredibly friendly and helpful. We’ll definitely be returning to The Stables. One of our new favourite places to stay!

Beautiful house, myself, husband, son,his wife ,2 grandsons had a lovely stay, children didn't want to come home, lots of lovely beaches nearby to visit, everything you needed was provided, even wellies, coffee pods, laundry liquid etc, such a peaceful location, thanks for an amazing stay.

Lovely, spacious house in a pretty, peaceful spot, overlooking countryside and Newcastle Emlyn - within 20 minutes of the coast as well as near to many other beautiful places. Nice walks straight from the house. The Stables is beautifully furnished and comfortable and we particularly liked the big kitchen which provided everything you could require. Sunny terrace outside, and EV charge point a definite plus. We were blessed with amazing weather and our week flew past! We would definitely return.

The Stables are a lovely comfortable retreat and we would certainly recommend to friends - we would stay again.

Just returned from a wonderful stay at The Stables. It's beautifully decorated with gorgeous views of the Welsh countryside. It's location was perfect as plenty of places to visit within easy reach by foot and car. We were sad to leave and hope to return.

Enhanced by the dryest and hottest Welsh weather you could imagine in March, we had a fabulous week-long stay at the Stables. The conversion is both spacious and tasteful and all the amenities you could need or want are provided. We particularly loved the parque floor and the super-sized kitchen island. The house is warm, perfectly situated for all the coastal attractions and is the perfect place to return to after a long day's walking. Unlike a previous guest, we found the Daffodil to be hugely disappointing and enjoyed eating in more than eating out! The whole coast from Cardigan to Aberaeron was amazing with a particular mention for Tresaith, Mwnt and Cwmtydu....not forgetting the excellent sandwich lunch at the seafront cafe at Llangrannog. Would highly recommend 'Ceredigion Coast ...Circular Walks along the Wales Coast Path' by Sioned Bannister (a snip at £5.99) and that you take plenty of coins for car park machines. For a more gentle walk, Cenarth Falls are really pretty. Cardigan has some excellent shops! Thank you, Catherine and Craig (and Boutique Retreats) for an amazing holiday. We can't wait to return.

Beautiful house in a gorgeous location. Has everything you need for a relaxing stay and very comfortable. Highly recommended.

Really enjoyed our 1-week stay. Cosy and well equipped. The fire kept us toasty and…. gorgeous views!

Beautiful house with very stylish interior throughout. Good access to many local attractions.

The house was lovely - large comfortable and very well equipped. We loved the large patio area and the fact we could walk straight out of your door through a gate and we were on a public footpath. The nearby frisbee golf was great fun. Craig had gone to the time and expense of installing an electric car charger in time for my arrival. He and I had been discussing the merits of it by text but to find there was one there when we arrived was marvellous. Craig was also contactable and helpful throughout the stay.

Wow! What an absolutely stunning house, totally lived up to the description & photos! We had a lovely relaxing week here, making the most of the stunning location and glorious house.

A trip to the recommended beach didnt disappoint either, even if the sun was hidden! West Wales water park was a great day too, ending with a really lovely & impressive meal in the tippi.

Lovely meal's enjoyed at The Harbourmaster (well worth the drive- fresh produce & devine flavours, catering very well for our vegan) The Daffodil- just up the road, fantastic service & food

The owners were incredibly personal & informative from the point of booking, all the way until check out. Really lovely touch having their details if we needed them.

We would highly recommend this property to everyone!

This is our second holiday with Boutique Retreats - and we have already booked a third. Perhaps a little more expensive than some holiday cottages - but well worth it as you can be confident that they will not disappoint. Clean, luxurious - and with every detail accounted for. As soon as you walk through the door, you can’t stop smiling.

Stunning! Refreshing to stay in such a beautiful modern-design hom,e with lovely views. External balcony, garden, and a shed for bikes. We hope to revisit.

This was our second visit and we had a great time - once again. Thanks

It is wonderful. Highly recommended. Helpful hosts. Everything we need it was there.

Wonderfully located and decorated, with excellent facilities. The sun trap terrace and floor to ceiling windows in the lounge were particularly appreciated. The hosts were amazing - they checked in with us via text, and gave us lots of local tips. And there are a few gorgeous circular walks along the Teifi river directly from the cottage.

Stunning property in a beautiful spot, immaculately kitted out. In easy reach of many amazing coastal walks.

We had a fantastic stay at The Stables. The location was perfect, allowing us to explore the beautiful Welsh coastline with ease. The Stables is comfortable, cosy, well-equipped and beautifully furnished. The impressive view across the countryside dotted with soaring Red Kites was an added bonus. Couldn't have asked for any more!

A beautifully furnished cottage, extremely spacious and light. Great location for getting to many excellent nearby beaches.

We had a wonderful time at The Stables, perfect for exploring the local area. The house is lovely, with everything you need including a toasty wood burning stove. Highly recommended.

Beautiful house that allows privacy within the home but also a warm, family and sociable feel, especially in the amazing open planned kitchen/ living room. A great option for couples, friends, or families.

Would highly recommend this beautiful house and Boutique Retreats. We had a very comfortable stay and booking was very easy - even though we booked our stay very last minute (the same day!!) Thank you and we will be returning.
