Led and owned by talented chef Paul Harwood, all the delicious dishes are made from fresh, local and seasonal ingredients with almost all its fish and shellfish caught straight from the harbour that very day.
Chef Paul Harwood has lived in Cornwall for over 25 years and spent 14 years honing his seafood skills at the famous Rick Stein restaurant in Padstow. He and his wife Elise took the step into opening their own homely and intimate seafood restaurant in Newquay in 2014. A few years on, this family-run business is booming and The Fish House has become one of Newquay’s top spots for seafood cuisine, especially with its outdoor seating overlooking the rugged North coastline. Open for lunch and dinner, you can enjoy a variety of homemade dishes in this rustic and friendly establishment.
For lunch, much down on childhood favourites like fish finger sandwiches and fish & chips or you can treat yourself to something a bit more special like a Cornish crab open sandwich or the classic and tasty French-style Moules Frites – scrumptious! The main menu offers more variety of dishes, including its ever-changing specials menu to give something new and exciting to both visitors and locals. Tuck into one of the generous sharing boards ranging from homemade focaccia with dips to a selection of tasty seafood delights to a mouth-watering baked Camembert with pickles and chutneys. For starters, you can enjoy Roasted Hotshell, a selection of different shell fishes, prawns and scallops or you can chow down on sizzling Piri Piri Tiger Prawns, served with mixed leaf salad and focaccia, or try the crunchy Salt and Pepper Fried Squid with Asian salad and wasabi mayonnaise.
Pasta, curries, steaks and much more, there is something to please everyone’s palate on the main course menu. Favourites amongst visitors are the hot and spicy Sri Lankan prawn curry with dahl, coconut sambal, basmati rice and poppadum, as well as the creamy Shellfish Linguine with tiger prawns, mussels and clams with a chilli, garlic and tomato. Whatever is tickling your taste buds, the friendly members of staff are here to help, recommend and advise – and of course they will know the perfect bottle of wine to accompany your evening meal.
