Nestled in 15 acres of gorgeous gardens complete with woodland, grassy meadows, fruit trees and even a stream and pond, this lovely cottage for six lucky people and their canine friends is the perfect country retreat for those seeking space to celebrate or recuperate. Inside the cottage you'll find luxurious, country-chic rooms in soft, gentle colours to promote a sense of calm complete with characterful original features such as beamed ceilings, wooden floors and a fabulous wood burning stove. Just three hours from London, the location benefits from little air, noise or light pollution and is ideally located to explore the beaches of Devon's north and south coasts, Dartmoor and Exmoor as well as the historic city of Exeter.
Special 'Just for Two' rate
A special 'Just for Two' rate applies outside of school holidays, peak weeks, bank holidays, Christmas and New Year. At Apple Blossom House the Just for Two couples rate is 20% discount, this is on the basis that only the master bedroom is used during your stay. Setting
Next door to Apple Blossom House you will find The Gallery, set ideally beside one another to cater for larger parties when booked together, whilst offering perfect privacy when the retreats are booked separately. You can view The Gallery here or call us for more information.
Living
Super-snug and relaxed, the pretty living room has a cosy wood burning stove that will make you want to curl up with a blanket with a mug of hot chocolate and gaze at the flickering flames all night. Traditional blends effortlessly with deep, uber-comfy Loaf sofas and chairs that are made for relaxing, whilst there's a surround sound cinematic system and a 4K HD TV for film nights or when you want to listen to your favourite music. In addition, there's a cute Loaf desk and chair for those who just have to catch up on some work (though we don't recommend it!).
Eating
The country-style kitchen is fabulously spacious and has everything you'll need to create fantastic feasts. There's a Stoves seven-ring gas range with double oven and a cast iron griddle plate, oak-topped work surfaces, double Belfast sink and cream cupboards contain all the other essential kitchen equipment including the all-important Nespresso coffee machine. There's also an utility room which handily stores the washing machine and tumble dryer. In addition, there's a characterful farm-kitchen style dining table and chairs for mealtimes.
Sleeping
There are three superb bedrooms to choose from. The stunning en suite master bedroom is as pretty as a picture in shades of grey, blush pink and white, the warm original wooden floor and beams add tons of character whilst you can lie in the super-king-sized bed and gaze out the window to the garden and trees beyond. The second bedroom is just as gorgeous with a French-inspired king-size bed, spacious double wardrobe and eye-catching finishing touches. The third bedroom is a handy zip-and-link meaning it can either be twin beds (perfect for little ones) or zipped together to make a super king bed. All beds come swathed in gorgeous bedding and luxurious cushions and throws to ensure a blissful nights' sleep.
Bathing
The master bedroom has an en suite Fired Earth shower room whilst there's a separate bathroom with a gorgeous, free-standing, rolltop bath and hand-held shower. Both have heated rails to keep towels warm and fluffy.
Outdoor space
Lucky, lucky you! The immense grounds are yours to explore with wild meadows, a stream and pond, grassy paths and woodland walks. The woods are pungent with wild garlic in early summer. whilst fruit trees are pink-tinged clouds of blossom in spring and laden with fruit in autumn. Little ones and dogs will love exploring this natural playground, whilst it's just perfect for a picnic or relaxing on the sun loungers under the shady boughs of the trees in high summer. In addition, there's a barbeque and a picnic bench for a spot of alfresco dining. Totally idyllic!
Stargazing
For the seekers of staycation magic, Apple Blossom House is tucked down deep in the valley offering the perfect spot for a dose of stargazing. Settle down beneath the cosmos, where this idyllic countryside location promises an uninterrupted dark sky display - with the benefit of no light pollution. This is the ultimate getaway for cosying up under starry skies, for those romantic retreat moments...

Larger parties
The Gallery next door offers accommodation for two people and can be booked in conjunction with Apple Blosson House if you're a bigger party. Separate enough to offer privacy, this is a great option for multi-generational groups or two families, yet is close enough for communial living with the kitchen, dining and sitting room at Apple Blossom House easily accomodating eight people. Farm Shop Food - Delivery Service
If you would like a farm shop food and drink hamper to create your own cuisine from locally sourced seasonal produce, take a look at our guide on Thornes Farm Shop and Cafe here. You can reserve and pay for your food hamper in advance so it will be ready and waiting in the property when you arrive.
Private catering
Apple Blossom House can offer a fine dining concierge service (min 6 people) where the chef will cook a meal at the retreat. The menu will be created by the chef and the guests - depending on budget, seasonality and dietary requirements, this needs to be pre-ordered and paid for in advance.

In the Area
Deep in the heart of Devon, there's plenty to see, do and eat in the area. Close to the cottage you'll find the fabulous Thorne's Farm Shop for all your essential goodies, and it's also a pick-your-own fruit farm. Additionally, there are two great local pubs with the Ring O Bells particularly being renowned as a Gastropub.The Union Road Moto Velo in Crediton is a wonderful spot to enjoy coffee and cake while admiring the treasures within the motorbike workshop, while the historic Okehampton railway station is a lovely scenic stop off when riding the Dartmoor line. You're also not far from the National Parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor which are a must for walkers and cyclists with plenty of paths and trails to explore. In addition, take the scenic Tarka Trail Route to the rugged coast and surf beaches of Croyde and Woolacombe on the North Devon coast. Make sure to visit the lovely South Devon coast too and there are several National Trust properties nearby such as Knightshayes and Killerton, famous for their period houses and gardens alike. Castle Drogo offers fabulous walks on the edge of Dartmoor as well as traditional period house, café and shop.
