Nestled in 15 acres of private grounds including woodland and grassy meadows, a stream and a pond, this is perfect for those wanting rest, relaxation and to unplug and reconnect back to nature. Inside, the interior designer has thoughtfully created a peaceful, romantic and luxurious haven for two filled with charming, original features. Just three hours from London, The Gallery is also perfectly situated to explore the sites of mid Devon such as Dartmoor, Exmoor, the north and south coasts and of course the historic city of Exeter.
Setting
Next door to The Gallery you will find Apple Blossom House, set ideally beside one another to cater for larger parties when booked together, whilst offering perfect privacy when the retreats are booked separately. You can view Apple Blossom House here or call us for more information.
Living and eating
The open-plan living space has bags of cottagey character, with a large four-seater sofa for curling up on, a large, cosy wood burning stove and a gorgeous window seat overlooking the garden. In addition, there's a 4K HD Smart TV for film nights or catching up with your favourite boxsets. The country-chic kitchen lies to the back of the room and is fully equipped with everything you need to rustle up romantic feasts for your loved one (including the all-important Nespresso coffee machine) plus a breakfast bar for meals on the go. There's a lovely round dining table to the side of the kitchen and it's the perfect setting for intimate dinners for two.
Sleeping and bathing
The oh-so-romantic en suite bedroom is a total dream with vaulted, beamed ceiling, large windows overlooking the garden and a skylight making it a beautifully light, bright and airy room. The sumptuous super king bed is extremely comfortable and comes swathed in luxurious linens and super-soft bedding, ensuring deep sleeps and long lie-ins. The en suite is a gorgeous wet room with underfloor heating that boasts a double shower with two huge rainfall shower heads and a heated rail to keep towels warm and fluffy. In addition, there's a stunning freestanding bath for two up the wooden stairs on the mezzanine level for long, languorous soaks - blissful!
Outdoor space
Lucky, lucky you! The immense grounds are yours to explore with wild meadows, a stream and pond, grassy paths and woodland walks. The woods are pungent with wild garlic in early summer, whilst fruit trees are pink-tinged clouds of blossom in spring and laden with fruit in autumn. Dogs will love exploring this natural playground, whilst it's just perfect for a picnic under the shady boughs of the trees in high summer. In addition, there's a barbeque and a picnic bench for a spot of alfresco dining - just idyllic.
Stargazing
For the seekers of staycation magic, The Gallery is tucked down deep in the valley offering the perfect spot for a dose of stargazing. Settle down beneath the cosmos, where this idyllic countryside location promises an uninterrupted dark sky display - with the benefit of no light pollution. This is the ultimate getaway for cosying up under starry skies, for those romantic retreat moments...

There is plenty of private off-road parking.

A travel cot and high chair is available on request.
Dogs
Three well behaved dogs are very welcome. Please note, there is an additional fee per dog, per week or short break.

Farm Shop Food - Delivery Service
If you would like a farm shop food and drink hamper to create your own cuisine from locally sourced seasonal produce, take a look at our guide on Thornes Farm Shop and Cafe here. You can reserve and pay for your food hamper in advance so it will be ready and waiting in the property when you arrive.
Pre-prepared meals
As an alternative to a food hamper you can order pre-prepared food which will be delivered and left to cook at your leisure. The meals will be created by the chef and yourselves depending on budget, seasonality and dietary requirements, these will also need to be pre-ordered and paid for in advance.
In the Area
Deep in the heart of Devon, there's plenty to see, do and eat in the area. Close to the cottage you'll find the fabulous Thorne's Farm Shop for all your essential goodies, and it's also a pick-your-own fruit farm. Additionally, there are two great local pubs with the Ring O Bells particularly being renowned as a Gastropub.The Union Road Moto Velo in Crediton is a wonderful spot to enjoy coffee and cake while admiring the treasures within the motorbike workshop, while the historic Okehampton railway station is a lovely scenic stop off when riding the Dartmoor line. You're also not far from the National Parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor which are a must for walkers and cyclists with plenty of paths and trails to explore. In addition, take the scenic Tarka Trail Route to the rugged coast and surf beaches of Croyde and Woolacombe on the North Devon coast. Make sure to visit the lovely South Devon coast too and there are several National Trust properties nearby such as Knightshayes and Killerton, famous for their period houses and gardens alike. Castle Drogo offers fabulous walks on the edge of Dartmoor as well as traditional period house, café and shop.
